Solar light posts are a great way to light up areas around the exterior of your home without having to tap into the electrical grid. As with other types of outdoor solar lighting, solar light posts use the power of the sun to keep the lights burning bright all night long. You can install outdoor solar light posts just about anywhere that you need some extra light, since they require no wiring and require nothing nearby to attach the light to since the whole unit is self-contained. This means that all you need to do is to secure the light post firmly into the ground and you’ve got an instant source of light along your driveway, walkway, patio or anywhere outside that you can use some extra light.

What Are Solar Light Posts?

While you’re out shopping, you may also find these lights referred to as solar lamp post lights, solar lamp lights, solar post lights, solar lamp posts or solar lantern post lights. While these differing names for the same type of lighting may seem confusing, they needn’t be. All you have to know is that no matter what they are called, the lights consist of a freestanding post that holds a light on top (usually a lamp or lantern) and that it is powered by solar energy from the sun. So, whether they have the words “lamp”, “light” or “lantern” in them, and whether the word “post” comes last or in the middle, they are all basically referring to the same type of outdoor lighting.

To confuse things even more, you may also find solar light post caps, which are a bit different than the tall lights mentioned here. Solar light post caps or covers refer to solar lights that are placed on top of deck posts.

How Bright Are Solar Post Lights?

You will find some solar post lights with LED bulbs and these are usually brighter and more efficient. Some styles will also have a reflector within the lamp to make the light appear brighter. Solar lights in general have notoriously been known in the past to not give off as bright a light as electrically wired lights, but with advances in solar technology and more efficient LED bulbs, as well as the use of reflectors in some lights, you should have no problem finding a solar post light that is bright enough for your needs. Some people do prefer the dimmer light that solar lights provide for this type of outdoor lighting because it gives off a more subtle and intimate light that works perfectly with post lighting in some spaces. You can even buy solar light posts with motion sensors that will give off a brighter light when motion is detected nearby, or will otherwise just provide a soft, dim glow to light up your outdoor spaces and provide a cozier atmosphere.

Where Can Solar Light Posts Be Used?

The good news is that you can install solar light posts just about anywhere that you need some outdoor light. All that you need is an area that gets enough daytime sunlight to allow the solar cell to store enough energy so that the lights can run during the night. Other than that, since solar light posts are a self contained unit (meaning they don’t need to attach to a wall or an overhead structure), you just need a place to secure them to the ground and you’re good to go! Here are some of the common places that you can use solar light posts:

Along driveways, walkways and pathways

Around a patio or deck

Around a pool

Near a gazebo or garden pond

Nestled in the garden

Near the front or back door

Anywhere you can use some extra outside lighting

Does Solar Post Lighting Come In Many Styles?

There are many styles of solar light posts for outdoor use. Design styles of solar post lighting can range from traditional or Victorian styles to contemporary or transitional ones. You will find both single and double solar post lights available as well, meaning that some lights will have a single lamp nestled on the top of the light post, while others will have two lamps or lanterns – still others can even have three or four lights attached to the top of the post. This lighting can come in a variety of finishes, including brass, nickel, bronze, chrome, wrought iron and other decorative finishes and the lamps or lanterns that sit on top of the posts can offer many design options as well. Most solar light posts are about 5 – 7 feet high and some are adjustable height, allowing you to determine the best height for your particular lighting needs.

One drawback to outside lighting is that the light fixture covers tend to get dirty over time. This happens simply from being subjected to the elements of the weather day after day, as well as dirt and debris that is constantly in the air. The problem is that when light fixture covers get dirty, they can negatively impact your outdoor lighting in a number of ways. That is why it is worth taking the time every once in a while to clean outdoor light fixtures to keep them looking and functioning at their best.

Negative Impacts of Dirty Light Fixture Covers

We all know that dirty light fixture covers can detract from the look of our outdoor lighting, but did you realize that there are other impacts to your lighting as well? These include:

Reduced light emittance – If your light fixture covers are dirty, your lights simply won’t emit enough light. This can be a problem, especially with some outdoor lighting fixtures that don’t emit a lot of light in the first place and are designed for safety purposes, such as step lights or pathway lights.

Increased heat accumulation – If outdoor light fixture covers get too dirty or are covered with debris, it can allow too much heat to accumulate within the lighting fixture. This can lead to malfunctioning of the light, premature burning out of light bulbs, or worse yet, it can be a potential fire hazard.

Breeding ground for unwanted pests – Unclean light fixture covers can not only be an eyesore, but can become a breeding ground for unwanted pests, such as insects, bees, birds and even small animals. If an animal can find a way to nestle in a small pile of debris, shielded from the elements and predators by your light fixture covers, you may get more than you bargained for when you go near your light!

How To Clean Light Fixture Covers

Cleaning light fixture covers is relatively easy to do (as long as you can reach the light!) and can be a super-easy job if you keep to a regular maintenance schedule so the covers on your light fixtures don’t build up too much dirt and debris on them between cleanings. Here’s what you need to do:

Make sure that your lights are turned off before cleaning the light fixture covers. You don’t want to get burned by the heat of the bulb in the process.

Gently wipe the covers of light fixtures with a soft, clean cloth. If there is stubborn dirt on the covers, you can use a mild cleaner to remove the dirt. Glass light fixture covers can be easily cleaned by using Windex, Glass Plus or any window cleaner. If you have brass, bronze, stainless steel, nickel or another type of metal light fixture cover, you should be sure that any cleaning product you use will not damage the finish. Often the best solution is a mixture of a tablespoon of dish soap mixed with a little water – that can usually do the trick of removing all types of dirt and grime without harming the surface finish. Just take care of how much liquid you use since your light is still plugged into an electricity source.

If you see that debris, insects or leaves have built up beneath the light fixture cover, gently remove the cover and clean out the debris. Be careful when doing this to not break the light fixture cover and to not lose any screws that may be holding it in place. Also be aware that within the debris lodged in your light fixture, there may be unwanted pests, so use caution when removing the light fixture cover and the subsequent debris.

If you removed the cover of the light fixture to clean beneath it, put it back in place and securely fasten any screws or attachments. Make sure the light fixture cover is completely dry before turning the lights back on.

Repairing or Replacing Light Fixture Covers

Sometimes, your light fixture cover can break, crack or become damaged in some other way, although the rest of your light fixture still works. When that happens, it’s best to try to repair the light fixture cover, if possible. If the cover is glass, this can usually not be done and should not be attempted if the glass is broken. If the light fixture cover is made from another material, you may be able to repair the cover so that it still looks good and does its job properly. Just make sure that any materials that you use to repair a light fixture cover can withstand the constant exposure to heat from the light bulb, once the light is on. And be especially sure that any product you use (such as glue) is not flammable.

If repairing the light fixture cover is not possible, you may be able to contact the manufacturer of the fixture to see if they offer replacement light fixture covers for the particular model that you own. This can save you a lot of money over having to replace the whole light.

When it comes to lighting up your home at night, almost nothing is as easy to do as installing solar walkway lights around the walkways and paths outside your home. Not only are solar walkway lights easy to install, but they can add an inviting glow to your outdoor décor, while also increasing the safety and security of your home. With solar powered lighting becoming more and more widely used by homeowners, the selection of solar walkway lighting continues to expand, providing more decorative and functional options than ever.

Solar Walkway Light Installation

Solar powered walkway lights are so easy to install because there is no wiring to contend with. Each solar walkway light has its own separate solar panel attached to the light itself to power it when the sun goes down. The solar panels collect energy from the sun by day and store that energy in order to convert it into the energy needed to run the lights at night. Many solar walkway lights are lit with LED bulbs, which are much more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs, requiring minimal energy to keep them lit. Since most solar panels are attached to the walkway lights already, all you have to do is securely stake the lights into the ground, make sure the solar panel is facing the sun and you’re done!

Solar Walkway Light Styles

You can install solar lights along a walkway in a number of different ways. You can place the lights in the ground along the side of the walkway, can have the lights shine down along the walkway from above (whether the lights are on a post or attached to a nearby wall or fence), or you can install the lights right into the walkway itself. No matter what type of solar walkway lights you choose, you are sure to find a decorative style to suit your needs.

On the ground – If you’re looking to place outdoor solar walkway lights on the ground alongside your walkways and pathways, you’re in luck! There’s a wide variety of lights to choose from. Consider small solar walkway lanterns that are staked in the ground along a path, solar walkway spotlights that sit a bit away from the walkway but shine down to illuminate the path, solar walkway marker lights that serve as delicate beacons alongside a path, or solar walkway string lights that can be laid along the edges of the walkway to subtly define the path.

From above – If you would rather illuminate your pathway from above, there are plenty of options for that as well. You will find solar walkway post lights that are comprised of tall posts that sit in the ground with a decorative lantern light poised above or you can opt instead for a solar path light that is attached to the side of an exterior wall or fence that helps to light the way. Either way, you will have a number of different decorative options to choose from.

From within – Want to really make your walkway stand out at night? Install solar walkway lights right within the walkway itself! You can replace a few pavers or bricks within a pathway with solar powered paver lights that light up when the sun goes down. If your walkway has a step or two, adding a few solar walkway step lights is a great way to ensure that everyone notices where they need to step up or down, reducing the chance of falling.

Decorative Solar Walkway Light Options

Just as there are many options for solar walkway light styles, there are also many decorative options as well. You can select from stainless steel, bronze, brass, metal, wrought iron or a variety of other materials for your outdoor solar walkway lights. You can find these lights in every decorative style, from super contemporary to traditional, and from very ornate to very subdued in nature. You can even find color-changing solar walkway lights, if that is your thing!

Solar Walkway Light Prices

With so many variables to consider, you can also rest assured that prices of solar walkway lights vary widely as well. So, if you’re just looking for some cheap solar walkway lights to add a bit of safety to your home but don’t want to splurge on some fancy, decorative lights, that’s okay because you’ll find just what you need at a price you can live with. If, on the other hand, you’re willing to spend some money to really make your lights stand out, you can find some beautiful and eye-catching solar walkway lights that will make people stop and take notice. The best solar walkway lights for any home will result from a combination of the type, decorative style and price tag that work just for you.

Although less popular than other types of landscape lighting, line voltage landscape lighting is one option that residential homeowners may want to consider. Line voltage landscape lighting is more often used by commercial properties, since line voltage landscape lights can be very bright, increasing the light’s impact and enhancing security.

What is line voltage landscape lighting?

Line voltage landscape lighting is landscape lighting that uses 120v lines. This results in brighter and more powerful lighting than low voltage or solar landscape lighting, but it also requires quite a bit more effort and expense to install.

Find a wide selection of line voltage landscape lighting here!

How is line voltage landscape lighting installed?

If you are interested in installing line voltage landscape lighting, the first thing you should do is hire a licensed electrician. This is because the average do-it-yourselfer should not attempt to install 120v electrical lines on their own due to the inherent risk involved. This risk can result in personal injury during the installation of line voltage landscape lights as well as subsequent fire risks if the electrical lines are not run properly.

When an electrician installs line voltage landscape lighting, the first thing that he must do is to place 120v outdoor lighting cable into a conduit for protection and then lay the conduit 18” below the surface. The cables and conduit must be laid out in such a way that electricity will be delivered to all locations around the home that will require lighting. In order to properly lay the conduit and cable properly, a deep trench must be dug. Some professional electricians will own a trencher to do this job, making easier work of burying the cable.

At all connection points between line voltage landscape lights and connecting cables, there must be sealed junction boxes that are completely waterproof. If water enters the area where connections are made, it can result in a serious shocking hazard.

Why choose line voltage landscape lighting?

The main reason that 120v line voltage landscape lighting is chosen over low voltage or solar landscape lighting is that a line voltage landscape light will be brighter and emit more directed light than other types of landscape lights. This benefit is important enough for some homeowners to go through the expense and effort of having line voltage landscape lighting professionally installed. One place that the difference in landscape lighting brightness is noticeable is for up-lighting. This is when landscape spot lights are situated strategically amongst the landscaping and are pointed up at trees, the side of the house or another interesting feature to create visual impact. Low voltage and solar options don’t have the power or emit a bright enough light to make this type of lighting work effectively.

For those that need a good deal of bright light spread amongst the landscaping, whether on a residential or commercial property, line voltage landscape lighting is the option to choose. There’s no comparison to the level of light emitted from these types of lights compared to other lighting types.

Why not choose line voltage landscape lighting?

The main reason not to go with this type of lighting is the expense. Line voltage landscape lights cost much more to install than low voltage or solar lights. The line voltage lights themselves are also more expensive to purchase. And, line voltage lighting results in higher electricity bills and uses up more energy. One other reason to think about another type of lighting is that line voltage landscape lights are not available in as many styles and finishes as other types of landscape lighting.

Where to buy line voltage landscape lights?

You can buy 120v line voltage landscape lights at most retailers that sell outdoor landscape lighting. This includes lighting stores, home improvement stores and other types of big box retailers. You can also buy line voltage landscape lighting online from a wide variety of internet retailers. Since you may find a smaller selection of line voltage landscape lights available at your local store as more and more homeowners are opting for solar and low voltage landscape lighting, you should find a wider selection of lights to choose from by searching online. Some popular brands of line voltage landscape lighting are Hinkley Lighting and Kichler.

What do line voltage landscape lights cost?

You can expect line voltage landscape lighting prices to be higher than similar types of low voltage or solar lights. Prices will vary widely depending on the type of light you are buying, the size of the light, the decorative finishes and the manufacturer, but you should expect on average to spend about $50 – $200 per line voltage landscape light. This of course does not include the price of hiring an electrician to run the lines, make the connections and install the lights, which can be a very expensive undertaking. The good news, however, is that once the line voltage landscape lighting is installed, it can remain in place providing years and years of bright light and adding impact, security and attractiveness to your exterior landscape décor.

One way to make your home safer while also increasing its aesthetic appeal is to install outdoor walkway lighting. Installing outdoor walkway lighting is relatively easy to do and the options available for outdoor walkway lights can suit any style of home and come in virtually any type of lighting source.

If you’re looking to buy outdoor walkway lighting and are unsure of what you want or what is out there, you’ve come to the right place! We will provide you with some outdoor walkway lighting ideas to help you decide how best to light up the walkways around your home.

Buy outdoor walkway lighting here!

Solar Outdoor Walkway Lighting

One popular option to consider is outdoor solar walkway lighting. Solar lights are an attractive option, not only because they conserve energy, but also because they’re easy to install. With no electrical wires to run, solar outdoor walkway lights can be placed anywhere you desire with minimal installation needs. The only requirement is that the lights get enough daytime sunlight in order to operate effectively at night.

You can buy outdoor solar walkway lights that come with stakes which are installed in the ground along the sides of the walkway. If your walkway runs alongside a wall or fence, you can install wall mounted solar walkway lights to brighten up the path from above. Another option is to install outdoor solar walkway lights or pathway lights right within the walkway. These are square, rectangular or circular lights that can be placed into the walkway itself to light up the way. They require no wiring since they are solar and can easily be put in place during the initial installation of the walkway. If you have a walkway made from pavers or bricks, you can also remove some of the pavers or bricks to replace them with solar walkway lights of the same size at a later time.

Low Voltage Outdoor Walkway Lighting

If solar is not your thing, you may prefer to install low voltage outdoor walkway lighting. Unlike solar lighting, low voltage outdoor walkway lights will require the installation of wiring, but since the lines are low voltage, they can be easily installed by do-it-yourselfers. This can save you a big expense over having to hire an electrician. Low voltage outdoor walkway lights are most often placed along the sides of a walkway to light up the edges of the path. They usually come in kits with a specific number of lights and a transformer that connects all of the lights. Low voltage outdoor walkway light kits usually come in sets of four, six or eight lights, although you can even find some sets that come with as many as ten to twelve lights or more in the kit. Most outdoor low voltage walkway lights come with LED bulbs and are suitable for installation in wet locations.

Outdoor Walkway Lighting Styles

When it comes to lighting up the walkways and pathways around your home, you have a number of styles to choose from. First you need to decide if you want outdoor walkway lights that are placed alongside the walkway, above the walkway on an adjacent wall, post or fence, or within the walkway itself. Then you have to decide if you want the lights to be operated by solar power, low voltage wiring or regular electrical current (if opting for the latter, a licensed electrician should be called in to do the job). Finally, you have to select the style of outdoor walkway lighting that you want.

You can find outdoor walkway light styles to suit just about any type of exterior home décor. Most of the style options will come in the form of post or lantern lights that are installed along the outside edges of the walkway. These lights are available in copper, brass, bronze, brushed nickel and other metals. They can be sleek and contemporary or can evoke a feeling of wandering in a country meadow or a large Southern estate. You can find outdoor walkway lighting that is casual and beachy or formal and grand. And you can find a variety of outdoor walkway lights that will coordinate well with other types of outdoor lighting so that the lights along your pathway go well with the rest of your outside lighting décor.

Lighting Up Outdoor Walkway Lighting

Just as there are many types of outdoor walkway lights, there are also a number of ways to make sure that they turn on when the sun goes down. How you choose to turn on your outdoor walkway lights will depend in part on the type of lights you buy and how much you want them to stay on. If you install solar outdoor walkway lights, most have a sensor that will turn the lights on automatically when the sun goes down or the light level is too low. Low voltage outdoor walkway lights will often have a timer build into the transformer so that you can set the lights to go on and off at a specific time of day or night. You can also get motion sensor outdoor walkway lighting that will go on only when motion is detected nearby. These lights will not remain on all night long, but will provide a more safely lit passage when someone is walking by. Of course, you can also always opt to just flip a switch on and off when you want to turn your outdoor walkway lights on and off!

When it comes to outdoor lighting, almost nothing can evoke the charm and elegance of bronze light fixtures. Outdoor bronze light fixtures come in many different styles and designs, giving homeowners a myriad of choices for lighting use. One of the reasons why bronze light fixtures make such a grand impression when used outdoors is the natural aged look that bronze offers, which can be an interesting addition to any outdoor landscape. Bronze can be bold and vibrant, deep and rich, or if allowed to age to a gentle patina, can evoke a totally different look with its own appeal.

When you are shopping for outdoor bronze light fixtures, you have a number of choices to consider. For one, you first have to choose the type of light fixture you need. This decision will be dependent for the most part on where you are installing the light fixture. For example, if you need a light along your front walkway, you may opt for a bronze post lantern, while if lighting right outside your front door is what you need, a bronze wall lantern or wall sconce will fit the bill better.

Here are a few of the more popular styles of outdoor bronze light fixtures to choose from:

Bronze post lanterns

Bronze wall lanterns

Bronze wall sconces

Bronze outdoor pendants

Bronze outdoor chandeliers

Bronze outdoor ceiling fans

Bronze landscape lighting

Bronze patio lighting

Bronze deck lighting

Bronze LED lighting

Aside from selecting the type of outside lighting style you need, you then need to consider the finish that you desire from your outdoor bronze light fixture. Most likely, you will see manufacturers that offer this type of lighting selling oil rubbed bronze light fixtures, or they may simply call them oiled bronze light fixtures. What this means, as far as the finish is concerned, is that an oil has been added to the surface of the bronze that contains chemicals which makes the exterior finish of the bronze light fixture look like it is already aged. So, rather than getting a shiny bronze finish to start, your bronze light fixture will probably look more like it has a deep brownish or dark grayish finish, with some hints of bronze and coppery tones coming through. This provides a beautiful, rich finish that is sure to add charm and elegance to your outdoor landscape design.

If oil rubbed bronze light fixtures aren’t really your style, you can opt for brushed bronze light fixtures instead. These have more of the bronze coloring that you would expect from a bronze light fixture, but like a brushed nickel, the surface is dulled a bit so that it does not offer a bright and brassy look. Instead, brushed bronze lights have a softer and more subtle finish to them, while still looking more like the color of what you would expect new bronze to look like.

If you love the look of patina, you may be wondering if you can buy patina bronze light fixtures. While you may find an antique store or specialty retailer that sells this type of lighting, most manufactures don’t sell bronze light fixtures that already have a patina finish on them. But, if this is what you love about bronze, have no fear. All you have to do is buy an untreated bronze light fixture, install it outdoors and wait for a little while. The natural elements of air and water will begin to oxidize the finish of the bronze to create the soft green patina finish that you desire.

Outdoor bronze lighting is a great way to add a rich elegance to your outdoor décor. Whether the lights are placed throughout your exterior landscape, or you simply opt for an eye-catching bronze chandelier hanging right above your front door from a covered porch, this type of outdoor lighting is sure to make a beautiful statement.

Technology moves along ever faster, and that means continual improvement for eco friendly solar panels and LED light bulbs, both of which are key components to all exterior solar lighting. It has gotten to the point where a high quality solar light fixture using an energy-sipping LED light bulb can last for eight or more hours per charge, often at strengths that approach conventional lighting.

If the weather has you thinking about installing an outdoor lighting system in the garden, solar garden lights may have a part to play if you’re looking to save energy. Here are four kinds of solar landscape lights you can expect to find:

1) Solar Path Lights - You have surely seen these before–they line many a garden pathway. Available in all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors, they now come with a dusk to dawn sensor that tells the light when to light up and when to recharge the battery. Not only can you opt for short lights with a spike you put into the ground, but also other options such as hanging lanterns, and they all suit the same purpose of providing a lighting aura to assist you in finding your way along any pathway.

2) Solar Post Lights – Think of the romantic Victorian gaslights that used to line the streets before electricity made them obsolete. Available in all kinds of materials, such as aluminum, brass, or iron, among others, these large LED solar post lights recreate the nostalgia of years gone by in a far more energy efficient manner. Not only do they bear a solar sensor and rechargeable battery, but each fixture will likely also have a series of reflecting plates to magnify the available light. These lights are understandably much more expensive than other options, but if you have the budget and the right spot in your garden to put them, they can make a marvelous addition to light your yard at night.

3) Solar Spot Lights - If security or a spotlight on an object is more your concern, solar LED lights have something for you, too. Either way, you need a powerful light that can be brought to bear on either your beautiful fountain or that burglar lurking in your bushes. The joint feature these lights share in common is that they are actually comprised of multiple LED bulbs. A security light may have 80 or more of these tiny bulbs that together make for an overpowering light that will stop illegal activity in its tracks. A spotlight to highlight a garden feature or tree only needs about three or so bulbs to achieve the intended effect. Solar security lights have the added benefit of coming with motion sensors, which will turn the light on exactly when it is needed.

4) Solar Specialty Lights - The last category catches everything else that can be grouped generally under the term of “decorative lighting”. Only your imagination limits what you can choose. You can find tiny pinnacle lights, stepping stone lights, water feature lights, little lanterns, and a multitude of lights in various shapes and colors to make your garden shine at night–but you will need something else for more powerful guiding or spot lights.

In short, there is something for everyone and for every need when it comes to eco friendly solar landscape lights. Whether you need decoration, a spot light, or lights that show the way, you should consider how much energy you would save by going “off the grid” in your backyard and relying on the power of the sun.

Are you thinking about selling your house soon and you want to add to its curb appeal? Or are you simply looking for a way to liven up your outdoor surroundings a bit? Are you trying to focus the attention of potential buyers or passersby on the architectural lines of your home or show that you have a rather unique and creative flair for decorating? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then this article might provide some ideas about how to incorporate interesting light fixtures into your home’s exterior decor that can help it to stand out from the crowd.

Two light fixtures that we are going to discuss here are the outdoor sconce, and the rather eye-catching outdoor chandelier. These are not the typical types of outside lights you think of when planning your exterior lighting design, but the addition of either or both of these interesting lighting fixtures can really set the mood for your home.

Outdoor Sconces

The first type of outdoor light fixture we’ll touch on is the outdoor sconce. These are great light fixtures to add to your front door entryway, as they enhance the natural lines of the house. Glass outdoor sconces in particular add attractive accent lighting that bounces off of the lines of the house to create nice edges and shadows that direct lighting would not otherwise create. And, because there are so many decorative glass options, from colored glass to etched glass, to clear glass encased in interesting lighting frames, you can not only cast an interesting glow from the light fixture, but the glass sconce itself can become a focal point of your front entryway.

Other places that outdoor sconces can be used to add an interesting dimension to your landscape and garden decor include pathways, walkways, doorways, along fences, and in gardens (if there is a vertical structure on which to attach the sconce). The light given off by outside sconces can show off plants, hardscaping, a water feature or can accent pool areas. The one thing to keep in mind, however, if you opt for a glass outdoor sconce, compared to another type of outdoor sconce, is that if the area is not protected with an overhead covering, be sure that the glass portion of the fixture is not in danger of breaking by falling twigs, blowing debris, or a wayward soccer ball that gets kicked in its path.

Outdoor glass sconces can start to become a little bit pricey if you’re looking to add a few of them. The nice thing, though, is that these types of fixtures are best used sparingly to get the best effect.

Outdoor Chandeliers

Another interesting type of light fixture for outdoor use is the outdoor chandelier, and most particularly, the black chandelier. Black chandeliers are perfect for adding curb appeal when added to your entryway ceiling or a covered porch area, because they make the person focus on the intricate lines of the light fixture, which draws attention to the lines of the house, as well as away from some of the less pleasing aspects the house. Now, of course, there are other types of outdoor chandeliers besides black ones, and while these can be equally as interesting, depending on their shape and size, there is just something about black that draws and grabs your attention, giving your outside lighting choice that extra “wow” factor.

Outdoor chandeliers are also an interesting option to be used as gazebo lighting or under covered patios or decks. The elegance that these light fixtures afford these spaces is unmatched, and if you buy chandeliers for outdoor use, they will be made from materials that can withstand the outdoor elements. You should stay away from outdoor chandeliers with a shiny finish, such as silver or brass, because during the daytime hours, the sun may reflect off of the shiny finish, causing you to squint. That’s why black, and especially black wrought iron chandeliers, are such an attractive option, because they do not reflect any daytime light and make a dramatic statement against their surroundings.

While outdoor sconces and outdoor chandeliers are not the first types of outside lighting options that come to mind for most people, adding one or both of these interesting light fixtures can really add to the curb appeal and decorative flair of your home’s exterior.

Want to make your garden look dramatic? Want to illuminate the great landscape surrounding your Koi pond or other outdoor water feature? Landscape lighting and other types of outdoor lighting provides an easy and inexpensive solution to adding a touch of glam and a hint of magic to any landscape, be it your garden, front yard, back yard or the walkway towards your patio.

When placed the right way, outdoor solar lighting, for example, can highlight the magnificent features of your landscape as well as downplay the other elements you want to conceal in your garden. In addition, the contrast of the shadows and the soft lights adds drama to your yard. And the great thing about this type of lighting, as well as other types, like low voltage lighting or LED lighting, is that there are so many decorative options to choose from to enhance any style of home and any location outside the home.

Outdoor lighting also makes it easy for you to decorate your home for garden parties or barbecues. The romantic ambience it gives out makes it perfect for entertaining guests or for Sunday evening barbecues or cocktails with family or close friends. It saves you the trouble of hanging garden lanterns in your yard for those parties because the outside lighting you need is already there.

And outdoor lighting is not just ornamental! It also increases the security of your home. Outdoor landscape lighting, garden lighting, patio lighting, walkway lighting, driveway lighting and other types of lighting placed outside can illuminate the dark areas of your home and also light up pathways so you can see your way into the night when you’re driving your car into the garage, or can help guide the way if you’re making your way into the gazebo or heading poolside. And you won’t have to worry about your kids enjoying a night beneath the stars either. Some outdoor lights, like spotlights or floodlights, not only give your garden an otherworldly glow, but also discourage intruders from coming into your home or onto your property.

Easy to use, efficient and absolutely breathtaking, outdoor lighting is a fabulous addition to any household. This home improvement trend is sure to provide you a welcoming and safe environment for you and your whole family. If carefully designed, outside lighting will turn any ho-hum landscape, front yard, backyard or garden into a sight to behold.

If you are looking for answers to the question “why would you want to buy solar lights?”, then there are plenty of places where you can look to find out about some in-depth benefits that these lights offer. There are many reasons to choose solar lights for your home. For instance, the cost, the environment, and the ease-of-use and installation, are just a few reasons why solar lights keep getting more and more popular.

You can use solar lighting both inside your home and especially outside your home, in the form of solar deck lights, solar driveway lights or solar garden lights, among others. Here is a more in-depth view about why you may want to consider solar lighting for your next lighting purchase.

Save Money

One excellent reason why you would want to purchase solar lights is that they could be instrumental in saving you some money. How is this possible just by using a few solar lights? Well, let us recall that since solar lights use solar energy as their source of power, then these lights mainly depend on the sun and the energy that it supplies to the earth each day. Solar lights recharge all throughout the daylight hours as they continuously absorb the energy coming from the sun, storing the energy in batteries. At night, they use that charge in order to give the best possible illumination to whatever dark spaces you have. Because of this, solar lights do not eat up any electricity, so they do not increase your electricity consumption and they do not add to your electricity bills. As a result, you can save money because the lights do not cost you anything to run, apart from the original purchase price, and maybe some occasional maintenance.

Save the Earth

Another fantastic reason why you should consider solar lights is that they are very environmentally friendly. These lights do not emit any harmful gases so they do not add to the pollution that we have in our environment. Using solar lights might even give you the feeling that you are being an advocate of environmental cleanliness, and that is certainly a step in the right direction towards reducing your carbon footprint.

Ease of Installation

Solar lights are very easy to install. You don’t need extension cords or the installation of any wires in the process. Since solar lights require no electrical wiring to be run, you do not have to hire an expensive professional to install the lights for you, saving you money in the process. Installing solar lights is an easy DIY project that just about any homeowner can tackle and doesn’t take much time.

These are a few of the main reasons that make many people choose to buy solar lights. Of course, the many varieties of lighting available in attractive styles is another great reason as well.

Someone said once that “a house is built with wood and beams and a home is built with love and dreams”. For those who love to dream out of doors, a covered deck or patio is a great addition that can truly make your house a home. Gazebos and porches also accent a home and enhance the home’s exterior design.

If you have a covered outdoor area in which to enjoy the great outdoors, then outdoor chandeliers are a great way to shine light on these unique areas and to really make them unique and attractive additions to your home. From solar powered chandeliers to heavy wrought iron ones, and from classic to contemporary styles, an outdoor chandelier can be found to perfectly match your home’s decor. Let’s take a look at some of the options available.

Some people choose an outdoor candle chandelier. This is a style that is typically made with a steel or aluminum frame that includes places for one to six, or even more, candles to light. Some candle chandeliers come with metal enclosures around the candles to keep them partially covered and others come with glass to surround the candles. Though candle chandeliers are lovely and do not consume any electricity, caution should be used when using them due to the open flame and risk of fire. As with any time a candle is used, pay close attention to the flames, especially if the grass is extremely dry or they are being used in an area surrounded by wood or other flammable materials.

Solar outdoor chandeliers are another option and are perfect for areas where there is no electricity. If wiring cannot be easily supplied to an area, then outdoor chandeliers with solar capacities can be useful. Though they may grow dimmer as the dark hours progress if they do not have a powerful enough battery or do not receive enough solar power by day, they still add a soft glow to a seating area. They are easy to install and can be the perfect solution to provide an intimate ambiance.

If you are looking to have a substantial looking outside lighting fixture, then you may want to consider a wrought iron outdoor chandelier. Wrought iron is among the heaviest of all types of chandeliers and can really make a grand statement in your covered outdoor area. When using them, however, extra care needs to be given to the structure they will be suspended from, making sure the point where the wrought iron chandelier is to be hung from is strong enough to support the weight of the chandelier. If the area is at all exposed to wind, the light fixture may have a tendency to swing and this motion can cause more stress on the surface to which the chandelier is hung, so that should be taken into consideration as well. So, if an elaborate light fixture is chosen, be sure to consider its weight, how much wind it may be exposed to, and proper installation techniques carefully.

Outdoor chandeliers can enhance any covered outdoor area and can really dress up the space. In addition to adding chandeliers to places such as covered patios and porches, outdoor chandeliers for gazebos can also be found. I even saw one on Flickr.com that was hung in a tree for an outside gathering (of course, make sure you don’t use a candle chandelier in that situation!). Whatever your home design, outdoor chandeliers are a great way to make the exterior of any home shine.

Your garden decor is just as important to the overall look of your home as your interior decor. Whether your garden is small, medium sized, or large, you can make it look beautiful and can turn your front yard, backyard or garden into a pleasant place to spend time in. While it may take a bit of time and work to make your garden look great and to maintain it properly, it is well worth the investment of your effort in the long run.

The first thing to consider when it comes to garden decor is what types of flowers and plants you want to plant and where they will go. Many people plant different flowers to bloom at different times of the year, so that color and interest is maintained all season long. While some people really enjoy gardening and like getting down in the dirt planting seeds, you do not actually have to do this to have a nice looking flowerbed. Instead, as most people do, you can buy the plants from a nursery or home improvement store and plant them either as seedlings or larger plants. This saves time and work for people who are busy but would still like to have beds filled with beautiful flowers and plants.

Garden lighting is another important aspect of not only your garden decor, but the security of your home as well. No matter what kind of garden lights you choose, make sure they are bright enough to keep your home well lit, but not too bright to be an eyesore. There are a number of different kinds of outside lights that you can choose from. Some are stake lights that can be driven into the ground, others are wall lights that are put up on the outside of your house, and still others can be hung from posts (like lantern lights) or strung from trees or a garden gazebo (like string lights). Many people opt for solar lighting for their garden lights, and these are not only beautiful to look at but will save you from having a large electricity bill, too. You can get different styles of solar lighting depending on what ‘look’ you want your garden to have, since most types of garden lighting now come in solar form.

Another way to dress up your garden decor is by adding a garden statue among your landscaping. There are some small garden statues that look great in small to medium sized gardens or nestled among the flowers, or you can also find large garden statues that are quite eye catching and can become a highlight of your garden decor. Some of these statues can also double as garden lights as well, since they include lights built right into the statue.

When it comes to garden decor, you are truly limited only by your imagination and the effort you are willing to put into creating a beautiful garden. One of the nicest things about decorating a garden is that you are not as limited by conventional decorating “rules” as you are inside your home, so if you find a garden accessory that brings you pleasure when you look at it, you can simply add it somewhere in your garden so you can admire it whenever you wish. Following your own likes and dislikes when it comes to designing your garden is probably the best garden decor tip of all!

There are many ways to add light to outdoor living areas, and most especially to areas like a deck. The current trend toward energy efficient solar deck lighting adds an additional choice to meet the needs of discerning consumers, on top of the many deck lighting options that already exist on the market. There are different uses for such lighting, and adding light to the deck area, whether simple or elaborate in scale and design, offers several benefits as well.

Outdoor deck lighting ideas run the gamut in style and functionality. Deck lights can include many styles, such as ensconced torches, lanterns, post lights, step lights, hurricane lamps, solar accent lights, and LED lamps, among others. These light sources can be powered by means of electrical wiring or battery-powered forms. Oftentimes, battery powered deck lighting includes batteries that can be recharged via solar panels.

A multitude of deck lighting products are currently available from various suppliers and in a variety of price ranges, with many options being very affordable. For example, deck accent lighting, including outdoor deck post lights, spot lights, flood lights, and well lights, are available in under the one hundred dollar price range. Pathway lighting can be found in aluminum, brass, or copper, and they are also typically well under the one hundred dollar range.

LED lights are a very popular deck lighting choice. LED lights usually start at around fifty dollars and come in various types of fixtures, including post lights and pathway lights. Even though LED lights use very little energy, they do require hard wiring, so they will also require the cost of hiring an electrical professional to install them, unless you have the knowledge to run electrical wiring yourself.

Another option is solar powered deck lighting. Do-it-yourself solar-powered light systems can be purchased for as low as twenty dollars. Solar lights do not require wiring and cost absolutely nothing to operate. And since they are so easy to install on your own, there are no installation costs to contend with. You can often find solar post cap lighting or solar accent lighting to use around the decking and deck area.

There are many types of outdoor deck lighting options to consider, but all come with the benefit of providing an added level of security and safety because they can be used to clearly define your deck area, in addition to adding style and ambiance to your deck. Adding a light source to the deck also makes it a more enjoyable living space in the evening hours. As an added benefit, accenting the deck with lighting can be an economical way to personalize the area. The addition of outdoor deck lights can create a feeling of warmth and comfort.

Deck lighting, just as other types of outside lighting, continues to be one of the best ways to turn individual landscapes into unique works of art and design. You can set your home apart from all others in your neighborhood with the right installation and positioning of exterior lights. And the best thing about using deck lighting and other landscape lighting as a way to enhance the look of your home’s exterior is that it also provides added functionality, offering increased use of your outdoor space, as well.

Solar lights are a relatively new, and fairly simple technology. They contain a small battery, charged by a solar panel, that powers a light bulb, and they typically have a light sensor that switches them on after sunset. While they come in all shapes and sizes, most still tend to be a bit underpowered and fragile, so shopping around can be helpful in order to find solar yard lighting that will adequately meet your needs.

The first thing you want to do when you are deciding on what type of solar yard lighting to buy is to figure out what lighting effect you are going for. Most solar yard lights on the market will do a fine job of accenting borders along steps, paths and flowerbeds, but if you actually want to see much beyond a silhouette of your feet on a dark night, then you might want to consider a larger solar yard floodlight, which will cast much more light. Solar floodlights can be significantly more expensive than their smaller cousins, but if more light is what you need then you don’t want to skimp, especially because you’ll still be saving money by not having to pay for the electricity to power these larger solar lights.

When choosing basic solar accent lights, consider the materials from which they are made. Many of these small solar lights fall prey to misplaced feet, particularly when put near steps and pathways. So, when choosing solar yard lights for high traffic locations, look for models with a metal or ceramic casing, to protect them from being damaged if stepped on or kicked. Metal or ceramic casing is also a particularly good idea if you live in a colder climate. Cheaper plastic covered solar lights can and will shatter if you step on them or kick them, or even if you bump them with the lawnmower, particularly if it’s cold out.

Bottom of the barrel, cheap solar yard lights still use old style filament light bulbs, which will require replacement fairly often, so look for LED lighting, which gives both a brighter light and a better bulb life. This will make your solar lighting work more effectively and will also let you avoid the hassle of taking the lights apart to switch bulbs. LED solar lights may be a bit more expensive than incandescent solar lights, but it is worth the added expense.

In addition to all of its basic outdoor uses, there is another more unconventional use for standalone solar yard lights. If you have a power outage and need some indoor lighting, you can use a small solar light as a back up indoor light source. Just step outside, uproot a lamp, and voila! You have an emergency light instead of having to use a flashlight or a fire hazard, like candles. This is best done with a solar yard light that is compact and has a flat base, rather than a long pole, and with one that can easily be replaced when the power comes back on without a lengthy re-installation process. Better yet, if your house is prone to power outages, you can buy an inexpensive solar yard light that you leave outside in a convenient location specifically with the intention that you can easily bring the light inside when you need it.

When buying solar yard lights, you will find you have many options to choose from. If you keep in mind some of these basic buying tips, however, you will be able to choose the best type of solar yard light, as well as the best features (such as the type of casing and bulb type) to fit your needs. This will help you narrow down the many choices and select the best solar yard lighting to brighten up your front yard, backyard and garden.

Sometimes the backyard can get a little boring, so you begin to think of ways to spice up the surroundings. While it may be tempting to build a deck, add a pergola or gazebo, or create a beautiful garden pond, these additions can be expensive and are not always a feasible option to add interest to your backyard. So why not consider livening things up with a little bit of color? You can do so very easily and inexpensively with a few colored solar lights.

Colored solar lighting is a great addition to any backyard and is cost efficient. One great feature of these lights is that they can change colors and turn your backyard into something special. They also come in a variety of different designs. Another great feature is that they can add some interest to your yard without harming the environment or running up your electric bill, since they are powered by the sun.

There are a few different types of color changing lights that are worth taking a look at (although not all are solar powered), and if you are looking to buy colored solar lights or any type of color changing lighting, one good place to do that is the internet, since there is such a large selection at your fingertips. Here are some different color changing light options that you can select from:

Solar color changing lights: the great thing about these solar lights is that they’re very affordable, as well as durable. They automatically shut on and off on their own, and since they’re powered by one rechargeable AAA battery that is charged by the sun, they are a cheap way to light up your backyard space. These lights continually change from blue to yellow, to red and green, which is also entertaining.

Color changing flower lights: to add something different to your yard and dress it up a bit, you may want to consider flower shaped lights. They will make a beautiful addition to your backyard and garden area and continually change random colors in a rotating basis. They’re also a bit whimsical on their own, adding fun and interest even without the color changing option. In addition to flowers, you can also find these types of lights with dragonflies, butterflies and other designs.

Floating color changing pool lights: your pool is the perfect place for lights that change color. Just like the other color changing lighting mentioned above, these lights randomly change colors as well. They are powered by batteries and will last up 100,000 hours, and their charge lasts for up to 12 hours. When you have a color changing light floating around the pool, it changes the whole atmosphere around your pool and really makes it feel like a party is going on.

Solar colored garden stake lighting: using solar lights is the perfect way to light up your garden. Installing a few solar garden stake lights is ideal if you’re just looking for minimal lighting around your backyard or garden. These lights throw off small pools of light and some change color as well. You can get garden stake lighting in just a basic design, or can find options that have decorative lights on the ends, which add interest to your yard even when the lights are not on.

Of course, there are numerous ways that you can add interest to your backyard, but few options are as cost effective and easy to install as solar powered lighting. Solar lights come in a wide variety of styles and looks, but by adding a few solar lights that also change color, you can really dress up your outdoor space and make it look more interesting and fun!

Driveway lights are an excellent way of lighting up your property and making it easier to navigate up and down your driveway so you don’t run into any unwanted objects. Adding lights can also help to make your driveway much more decorative, especially if you put the lights in the right places. Installing driveway lighting isn’t very difficult, but you will need the right set of tools and materials to get it done. Some experience in electrical work is also required, if you are installing electrical driveway lights, because you will have to perform tasks like laying wires and hooking them up to the main power source of the house.

First you will have to choose the driveway lights that you want. You should find something that will suit your driveway well and that you can afford. If you plan to install the system yourself, then you may need to pick a set up that is fairly simple to install and does not require complicated tasks – this can be done easily if you buy solar driveway lights or low voltage driveway lighting. Once you have purchased your driveway lights, make a sketch of the entire area so you can have an idea of where each of the lights needs to go.

One of your first tasks should be to take the packaging off the lights and put each of them in their proper location. Step back and take one last look,so you can be sure that they are all where you want them to be because they can be very difficult to move if you decide to change their location later. Once you have decided where the lights will go, then you can start by securing each of the lights in their place.

The next job should be to run the wiring. Make sure to be very careful when laying wires, and always turn off the electricity first. If you don’t have any previous experience with this line of work, you may need to hire a professional electrician or consult a knowledgeable friend for help – fooling around with electrical wires is not something that is recommended.

If you want to be sure that you can install driveway lighting on your own without the help of a professional or the possible risk that comes with working with electrical wiring, then you may want consider one of the many types of low voltage driveway lights that are on the market. While these lights still require some type of wiring that must be connected, the electrical current running through the wires is greatly reduced and does not carry with it the risk of electrical shock. Most of these lights also come as part of a low voltage driveway lighting kit, so you will have everything you need to properly install the lights all in one place.

Even easier to install, and friendlier to your utility bill, is solar driveway lighting. Since these lights work off a solar panel that is attached to the lights themselves, there is no wiring to run from light to light or to a power source, and all you need to do during installation is to decide where you are going to install the lights, secure them in the ground, and make sure the solar panel is in a location that will receive adequate sunlight.

Installing driveway lighting can be fairly simple or somewhat complicated, depending on the types of lights you are using and the location of those lights. But once your lights are properly installed, you will be able to enjoy the benefits of having lighting along your driveway for a long time to come.

How much energy do you figure you use on a yearly basis? What considerations do you make with respect to energy (electricity) consumption in and around your home? How much do you really understand about the creation of electricity and what happens when you continue to use it? What kind of efforts are you making at home to cut your energy costs … why should you make any effort at all? Well, enough with the questions, now let’s read a little about why you might want to ponder them.

Within the US, the majority of the electricity produced is created by the combustion of non-renewable resources. Coal and natural gas are the two primary sources of electricity in America, and as you know, the combustion of these resources causes irreversible damage to our ecosystem. Power stations that rely on fossil-fuel combustion release not only carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, but also sulphur oxides, nitrogen and nitrogen oxides. When we take a look at power stations that rely on the combustion of coal, we can add mercury to the list of by-products created by the production of electricity.

Ok, so exactly how much of our electricity is derived from methods that are badly damaging our atmosphere? Let’s take a look at the breakdown for the year 2009 below:

1- Coal was the primary source of electricity, responsible for 44.9% of the electricity generated in the United States.

2- Natural Gas is the runner up at 23.4%

So, the top two producers of electricity in the US are non-renewable resources, both of which cannot be replaced (so, we’ll eventually run out) and their combustion creates a significant contribution to the alteration of our atmosphere’s composition. Sixty eight point three percent of the electricity produced in America has a substantial negative impact on the entire planet. Additionally, a further 1% can be added to this total, thanks to the combustion of petroleum to produce electricity. 69.3% of 2009’s electricity produced in the US was derived from these non-renewable energy sources. That’s pretty shocking, and globally it’s quite devastating.

Let’s think about our own use of electricity. Most of us are connected to the grid, that’s just the way things are. We haven’t really given a whole lot of thought to what the consumption of electricity really means, other than its impact on our bank account when it’s time to pay the electric bill. We now have a few more things to consider when turning on the dryer at a time when clothes can be hung outside, or turning the lights on in the evening when most of them are likely unnecessary. Interestingly, the electricity burned by using just lights can account for nearly one fifth of the electricity used within the United States. Would you agree that a good portion of that is pretty needless?

We’ve now learned a little about how the use of conventional electricity comes at a cost that far exceeds just dollars, but what control do we really have over any of what we’ve covered in this article? Our best response to that question is pretty simple: reduction. It’s pretty obvious that the majority of us are dependent upon electricity to run our homes – this is just a reality of today’s world – however, it is well within our grasp to not only reduce our consumption of fossil-fuel produced electricity, but to also increase our consumption of electricity produced by clean, renewable resources.

Our sun’s rays transport an incredible amount of energy to our planet. Just to put it out there, the energy we receive from the sun, for free, is roughly equivalent to one thousand times the energy consumed on our planet on a yearly basis. Evidently, we’re burning up dwindling resources to create expensive, dirty energy while free, clean energy is available in quantities that far surpass our needs. How are we turning a blind eye to this? Who really thinks this is a reasonable, logical, globally-feasible choice?

Solar power is certainly not a new concept, and I’m willing to wager that everybody is well aware of its existence. Again, most of us aren’t in a position to relinquish our dependence on the power grid, but most of us are in a position to make an impact by reducing our consumption. As mentioned earlier, almost 20% of the electricity used in the US is consumed by lights, and seeing as the use of lights is largely optional, it would stand to reason that using them far less is the best, and easiest place for all of us to start.

Solar lights are one of the most readily available, and affordable, means of capturing some of that free energy the sun has been providing since the dawn of time. Make no mistake when you read here that solar lights can definitely make a huge impact on not only your electricity bill, but more importantly, our life on this planet. Take a look at civilization the next time you’re out and about at night – everything is illuminated! Driving through communities, you won’t help but notice that most homes are lit up … pretty well everyone has exterior lights powered up on their homes. When have you ever been driving through a community that was in complete darkness, regardless of the time?

In the past, I’ve been guilty of succumbing to the notion that solar lights were a merely a neat little novelty item that I could simply stick in the ground to pretty things up, and I’m sure I am not alone. The fact is that these days, solar lights are available in varieties that surpass my former ill-informed notion. Outdoor garden lighting is simply one way to introduce solar lights to your home, but did you realize you can easily install solar yard lights to illuminate your home and property, or that you can implement the use of a solar security light with a motion sensor for use, at say, your front door?

Many new homes are now built with exterior lighting that’s designed to add decorative value to the homes’ exteriors. We’ll often see homes drenched in light for the purpose of showing off the architectural value and design of the home. The use of low voltage lights is favored by many for this purpose, but I still beg to ask why ANY exterior lights are powered by “electricity”. Although low voltage lights are a far better alternative to ordinary lights, they still rely on power provided by fossil fuel combustion. Solar powered lights are available to replace virtually any light you turn on outside, and obviously only rely on the power of the sun.

Today, there is simply no need to use conventional electricity to power outside lights. Solar powered lights are available for use in pretty much every outdoor and home exterior application that you can imagine. Solar lights our way to a future that is clean and free, but we first need to take advantage of the opportunity solar power provides in any way that we can – we’re starting to run out of excuses.

You can read more about why we should all use solar lights at solarlightsourway.com.

If you love to grill, then you probably realize the importance of having some good light near your grill, so you can cook even after dark. Grill lights come in a number of styles and don’t have to be big bulky things that you have to lug around just to use. Most grill lights come in a compact size, so you can put them almost anywhere that you need light. And by having easy access to light, it adds to your grilling pleasure.

Lights for grills are generally small compact lights that are made with the intention of allowing you to grill into the night. Most styles have multiple LED features on them, providing about as much light as you would have by day, and many use an alternate power source to charge themselves, like solar power. The most popular styles are clip-on grill lights, but there are other styles as well.

Solar powered grill lights are typically small, compact lights that you can clip on to your grill or an area around your grill. In addition to being a great addition to your patio or outdoor kitchen area, they are also great for camping trips, without the hassle of having to bring extra batteries to power the light. They can also be stored neatly underneath bbq grill covers when not in use. With solar powered barbeque grill lights, you can have usually have constant bright light for up to four hours. If you are away on a trip and need light for longer periods of time, you can just bring a couple of these lights with you and you will have light long into the night. Simply charge the lights during the day (make sure you leave them in a sunny spot) and you’re good to go when it’s time to get dinner ready.

There are also battery-operated grill light styles as well. One problem that these lights can run into is that batteries can have a short life span if they get too hot or cold. The temperature can drain the power from the batteries prematurely, resulting in only a fraction of the power that you should get out of them. This can be a problem when your grill light is sitting out in the heat all day long, or especially if you are off on a camping trip where there is not place to store the batteries out of the heat.

Multiple other options are available when it comes to grill lighting, in addition to the clip-on lights. There are different floor style lamps that are built for the outdoors that you can pull up right next to your grill, giving all the light you need. These usually need to be plugged into an electrical outlet from the house or into a generator outdoors. Small compact table lamps can also be used for this purpose, and will also need to plug into an outlet, unless they are one of the models that run on batteries. Although outdoor table lamps can provide versatility as to where you position your light, they do take up some space on the table portion of your grill, or along the countertop in your outdoor kitchen, so if you’re short on space, this may not be the best option.

There are a number of different grill light styles available for your grilling and party needs, so it is easy to choose the type of light that will work best for you. Whether you want electric, battery-operated or solar powered grill lights, or you want lights for the grill that clip-on, stand on the floor, or sit on a table or countertop right alongside your grill, you should be able to find an inexpensive grilling light to make the task of grilling at night easier. You can check with your local hardware store, home improvement store, or lighting store to find just what you need.

Outdoor garden lighting tends to be something that people often overlook when it comes to gardening and designing their garden decor, but without some well placed garden lighting, homeowners cannot thoroughly enjoy their garden the way it should be enjoyed. Most people do not initially realize that lighting outdoors would make their garden better, or that it would help them to enjoy their backyard, or even their front yard, so much more. Because they do not notice these things, they don’t get the full enjoyment of the outdoor living area or yard that they have.

You may be the best gardener in town, but will not completely benefit from the fruits of your labor without a well thought out garden lighting plan. But with outdoor lighting in your garden, you can accent certain qualities that you might like over others, like the soothing waterfall you strategically placed in the corner of the garden and the little garden pond that goes with it, or the bed full of lush, colorful flowers that you have worked so hard to grow. At night, you can’t see these things although you may be able to hear them (like the waterfall), but with the proper lighting, you can make that waterfall glow and be visible to you and others around, or highlight the beauty of the flowers, making it easy to enjoy the nighttime with your family and friends.

These types of garden lights, in combination with others such as solar patio lights, can make for a great experience while being outdoors and can greatly enhance the enjoyment of spending time outside while not being too far away from your own home. Solar patio lights also can turn your patio into a great place for parties and entertaining, making it easier to see the space outdoors and also adding to the atmosphere of the area. This makes for great parties and also excellent relaxation times for your family and friends to enjoy.

Solar powered lighting is great for many outdoor uses, because you don’t use electricity from your own home to power these lights. Instead you use the power from the sun, which beams down onto a solar panel during the day that is attached to the light and charges the light’s batteries. This makes solar lighting a renewable resource and gives you less stress about whether or not you should install a few extra lights or not. Solar patio lights, as well as other types of solar lighting, also turn on automatically due to a sensor that detects how dark it is or how light it is outside, so they turn off and turn on by themselves and you don’t even have to worry about deciding how long to keep them on.

Many homeowners get great enjoyment out of their backyards and gardens, but without the proper garden lighting, it is difficult to fully enjoy all aspects of the area at all times of the day or night. But, with a well thought out garden lighting plan, you can maximize enjoyment of your garden, no matter what the time of day.
