There are numerous uses for indoor outdoor carpet. As the name implies, this type of carpeting can be used indoors or outdoors. Primarily, however, indoor outdoor carpet is used in an exterior setting due to the fact that it is made to withstand conditions that are not often found indoors (like contact with moisture and constant sun exposure). For indoor use, there are many more options of indoor carpeting that will provide a more attractive look at lower prices, although there are certainly instances where indoor outdoor carpeting works well indoors. Indoor outdoor carpeting is a great option for any area that is either completely exposed to the outdoor elements, is in a transitional location between exterior and interior spaces, or is in a location prone to moisture.

Where To Use Indoor Outdoor Carpet?

As mentioned, there are many places that indoor outdoor carpet can be used. Here are some of the more common uses:

Patios

Porches

Sunrooms

Decks

Boats

Pool surrounds

Garages

Interior surfaces that may be damp, such as basements or laundry rooms

What Is Indoor Outdoor Carpet?

Indoor outdoor carpet is made of synthetic fibers and backing materials that are specially formulated so that they are resistant to moisture. This allows them to function well outdoors, since there is almost always some type of moisture that the flooring will encounter. Most indoor outdoor carpeting will also be treated to resist fading from exposure to the sun or will be made from UV-resistant fibers. Quality indoor outdoor carpets should also be stain resistant and should be easy to clean. For constant exposure to moisture, marine backing should be chosen.

What Types of Indoor Outdoor Carpet Are Available?

There are many types of indoor outdoor carpet for sale these days. Long thought of as a plastic-looking, green grassy surface that looked cheap and felt uncomfortable, indoor outdoor carpeting has since come a long way. While you can still find indoor outdoor carpeting that looks like green grass, there are many other options as well. These include:

Berber indoor outdoor carpet

Loop indoor outdoor carpet

Plush indoor outdoor carpet

Marine carpet

Indoor outdoor rugs

Indoor outdoor carpet comes in a wide variety of colors, thicknesses, styles and quality. For those looking to cover just a small surface, the carpet can also be bound on the edges so it functions more like an area rug, or you can find indoor outdoor rugs that can be used just about anywhere.

How Is Indoor Outdoor Carpet Installed?

Indoor outdoor carpet installation is relatively easy, at least in comparison to typical indoor carpet installation. You can choose to install indoor outdoor carpet using an adhesive material or double-sided tape (made for carpet installation). Either way, the carpet should be installed on a smooth, finished surface that is clean and level. The carpet should be rolled out in the area where it is to be installed and should be allowed to sit for a short time (an hour or so is fine) to allow it to acclimate to the environment. Then the carpet can be cut to size, the adhesive or double-sided tape laid on the underlying surface, and the carpet carefully laid on top. A heavy carpet roller should be used to permanently secure the indoor outdoor carpet to the adhesive and to smooth out any bumps or ridges. If permanent installation is not desired, this step may not be necessary.

Indoor outdoor carpeting does not have to be permanently secured and can just be laid down in any area desired. It is a good idea, however, to make sure that the carpet will not slip or move, so double sided adhesive tape or a non-slip indoor outdoor carpet pad should be placed underneath to keep the carpet securely in place. Also be sure that the edges are firmly in place so they do not roll up. This can result in a tripping hazard and will also make it more likely that the carpet fibers will begin to unravel.

Installing a pool in your backyard is a luxury that many homeowners aspire to, whether you are installing an inground or above ground swimming pool. Not only does a pool give you the benefit of cooling down, relaxing and exercising right in your own backyard, but it also can add to the aesthetics of your home’s exterior design. Fiberglass is a great choice to consider when deciding on the type of pool you want installed in your home for a number of reasons. More affordable fiberglass swimming pool prices, durability and easy maintenance are just some of the many great advantages of pools constructed from fiberglass over other material options.

Fiberglass pools, once installed, are permanent and get stronger as time passes. Their walls are made of non-porous materials that resist algae build-up and the breeding of bacteria. There are numerous sizes, styles and shapes you can choose from. Fiberglass pools usually come in pre-formed shells and are fairly easily installed. You can also have the pool customized using different surfaces and shapes and can even have an outdoor spa included as part of the pool design. The surface of the fiberglass can be gel-coated or colored. These pools can be customized with a shallow end, a volleyball pool section or even an attached outdoor spa. Unlike concrete pools, fiberglass can flex up to 12 inches, so it is a better choice for places prone to earthquakes.

The most obvious of the advantages of fiberglass for inground pools over concrete pools is the cost. Fiberglass pool prices are generally more affordable, especially in the long run. Clean-pool-and-spa.com lists that the installation costs for concrete pools ranges from $20,000-$50,000, while fiberglass swimming pool prices range from $15,000 – $30,000. Sunpools.com estimates that your savings on maintenance costs for fiberglass pools for ten years can amount to $ 11,260.00. Fiberglass does not require acid washing and resurfacing, so you also get better savings due to lower maintenance and energy usage costs.

There are two types of fiberglass pools – inground and above ground models. In general, fiberglass inground pools have advantages over above ground pools. These are ease of installation, their smooth finish, durability and easier maintenance. An above ground pool is a better choice when it comes to convenience, price and limited space. But when it comes to durability and lifespan, inground pools get the vote. The prices for above ground swimming pools made of fiberglass are cheaper than fiberglass inground pool prices, however.

Fiberglass pool prices vary depending on their specifications. A basic installation, which generally includes the pool shell, filtration system, site excavation, setting of the pool, backfilling, filling the pool, filter installation and pool permit will generally cost between $20,000 to $45,000. These fiberglass swimming pools prices do not include concrete decking around the pool. A complete fiberglass pool package would include the installation of the pool, perimeter decking, electricity and even a pool fence. But not all pool companies offer complete fiberglass pool services. Be sure you know what the inclusions of any package you are considering are before signing a contract.

To further save money on fiberglass pool prices, you also have the option of installing your own pool. This is not really an easy task, so many people don’t usually choose this option to cut down on the fiberglass pool price. Instead if price is an issue, they may choose to build a smaller pool or not include certain “extras”. But, if you think you can handle this task, the best companies to buy pools from will provide phone support directly from the factory to answer any questions you may have during the installation process.

Installing a pool in your own backyard is a pretty big decision and a large investment, but understanding the differences between fiberglass pool prices and other pool material options such as concrete, as well as weighing the pros and cons of each choice will help you make a more informed decision so you wind up with the pool you want at a price you can live with.

Swimming is known as one of the best exercises that you can do for your health. Running and biking are good as well, but swimming works everything in your body unlike the others. For those people that enjoy doing exercise, having your own lap pool in the backyard might be a good option.

There are many healthful benefits that these types of pools offer. Lap pools are very convenient to have in your own home, because they make it easier for you to get some exercise in whenever you desire. They are also relatively small and easy to maintain. A lap pool can be built inside the house (if you have a suitable space) or outside (where most are located) and they come in both inground or above ground swimming pool models. And although you won’t find totally cheap lap pools, these types of pools are typically less expensive than larger, more traditional style pools, so they are still a more economical choice.

The reason why swimming is sometimes preferred over running or biking is because you get just as good of a workout without all of the pain and stress. If you swim laps, it is a great aerobic exercise that can burn a lot of calories and you get a really good cardiovascular workout. Also, swimming is low impact. That means that you do not stress out your joints like you would from running due to the impact of each step. While swimming, you will still build up your muscles, but your joints will not be hurting afterwards. In order to become stronger, a lot of people lift weights, but swimming can replace that as well because there is resistance in the water while you swim. There is no age limit on swimming, unlike running, because running takes a lot more out of you and is harder for elderly people to do. Swimming is such a good exercise option, and having a backyard lap pool is so convenient, that almost anyone can stay in excellent shape if they’re willing to make the investment in themselves.

There are a lot of options to choose from when it comes to choosing a lap pool. You can decide between an above ground lap pool or an inground lap pool for starters. Inground pools are more expensive than their above ground counterparts, but look better in most backyards. These pools also come in many different sizes, but all of them are usually smaller than a regular swimming pool. Typically, a lap pool is just a narrow, straight pool that is only meant for exercising, not playing or diving, so they do not require as much room.

You need to have a professional come out and size out where you want to install your lap pool, to determine the best size pool for your available space, as well as your needs. If you have the room for it, you can even have an indoor lap pool installed. These can get pretty expensive, but most people can’t choose this option because they simply don’t have indoor space that is suitable to accommodate an indoor pool of any size. But all in all, lap pool prices are not any more expensive than a multi-purpose swimming pool, and in most cases are substantially less due to the difference in size.

Even though lap pools cost a good amount of money, they can pay off for themselves because they are very convenient to use and they avoid you having to make other payments. You will no longer need to drive over to your pool club in order to swim, and won’t even need to lay out the expense of joining a pool club or a gym. Also, you will be the only one in the pool so you do not need to worry about running into anyone or worrying about what you look like while you are getting in some much-needed exercise – and you won’t have the excuse that you don’t feel like getting out of the house to get in a workout because your workout will be right there waiting for you.

Due to their shape and narrow size, lap pools are very easy to maintain and clean. Normal swimming pools cost a lot after you initially buy them in maintenance costs alone, but the main lap pool price is in the initial purchase and installation alone, and not in hefty ongoing maintenance costs.

Lap pool prices can range significantly, however, so you need to decide what your budget is before you go into a store to buy. These pools are becoming a lot more popular because of the many benefits that they provide, which means that more and more models and options are becoming available on the market. But with the added options can come added expense as well, so determine your priorities and stick to your budget. You will also need to consider other expenditures, such as a pool fence, if one is required in your township.

If you are looking to get some great exercise right in the convenience of your own home, you should absolutely consider looking into buying a lap pool. It is a purchase that will go a long way in helping you live a healthier life.

If you are looking for a way to keep your pool warmer without the need for exorbitant pool heating costs, then you should consider getting a solar pool cover or solar blanket, whether you have an inground pool (with or without an outdoor spa) or an above ground swimming pool. Swimming pool solar covers collect heat from the sun and use it to heat up the water in the swimming pool. Pool covers also ensure that all the heat already in your pool does not escape from the water at night or during cold weather. If you live in a warm climate with year round sunshine, using solar blankets can lower your energy bills significantly. Even if you are only able to enjoy hot summer weather for a few months of the year, you can still cut costs by covering your pool with a solar blanket or solar pool cover.

A solar blanket is filled with small air pockets that are used to gather the heat from the sun, and then transfer that heat into the swimming pool to warm up the water. They also prevent warmth from escaping at night, and can help to keep the water at a comfortable temperature around the clock. When looking at the variety of solar swimming pool covers on the market today, remember that clear materials are more energy efficient than blue or other colors. The thickness of the pool covers varies between 12 and 16 mm and the thickest solar blankets are the most effective, but they are also the most expensive. If you are working with a small budget, have a look at the 12 mm models.

It is advisable to go to your local pool and spa store and speak with a professional to get some advice on choosing the best solar swimming pool cover for your needs. Even if you do not purchase anything, this can be a very educational experience. While there, you may want to also ask about a solar pool cover reel. This can make the removal process of your cover so much easier. You have two choices when considering a reel for your pool cover. The first is an automatic feature and is more expensive, but rolling and unrolling your solar pool cover is a piece of cake, since you only have to push a button and the cover automatically retracts on its own. The second choice is a manual option, and will require you to crank the reel by hand. It’s cheaper, but does require some work on your part to get your solar pool cover on and off. If your pool is not large or you simply can’t factor it into your budget, then don’t worry about buying a reel at this time.

Using solar swimming pool covers or solar blankets is an energy efficient and economical way to keep your pool comfortably heated without the need for exorbitant pool heating costs. While there is certainly some initial up-front cost to buying solar pool covers, the long term benefits of using the cover to utilize solar energy in order to keep the temperature of your pool comfortable will soon outweigh that initial cost.

As a homeowner, there are a number of advantages to building an outdoor swimming pool on the grounds of your property. First of all, a swimming pool can increase the value of your home by a significant amount. Secondly, there are health benefits, because if you have your own pool it encourages you to swim on a regular basis and swimming is a very healthy form of exercise. Finally, a pool can be a lot of fun and can be a great source of family entertainment, too. Just think of all those pool parties you can have!

Having a swimming pool built, however, is not cheap, especially if you opt for an inground pool instead of an above ground swimming pool. So, how do you go about financing a swimming pool? Well, it is really no different than financing any other home improvement, so you have various options open to you.

You might first want to approach your existing mortgage lender, to see what they can offer you in terms of extending your mortgage. If you already have positive equity in your home, most mortgage lenders should be willing to consider increasing your mortgage to cover the costs of building the pool. After all, once the swimming pool is built, your property will be worth more, so it is likely you will either maintain or even increase your positive equity.

Another alternative is to look for financing from a lender who specializes in swimming pool loans. Often these lenders have a fast approval process, so there is no delay to construction work starting.

You can also consider taking out a home equity loan in order to finance the cost of your swimming pool installation. You should in no circumstances, however, build a swimming pool that you really can’t afford by charging it to a credit card, where you will then wind up being stuck with ridiculously high interest payments for an amenity you should have never built in the first place (not to mention the high cost of swimming pool maintenance and cleaning you will have to contend with over time).

Whatever you do, make sure that the loan you take out is right for your own personal financial circumstances. If, for example, you want a long-term loan with lower payments, don’t make the mistake of getting stuck with having to make higher payments on a short-term loan. Because while you may be willing to be talked into any options in order to get your pool built quickly so you can start enjoying it, you will soon be sorry when the payments are more than you can handle and you wind up worrying about how you will pay them back.

There are some good deals out there for swimming pool financing, but you just need to spend a bit of time doing your homework and talking to a few different lenders. In the end, it will be worth it because you will have enhanced your home with a beautiful outdoor pool!

Any person who is currently considering purchasing a swimming pool to improve the value of their home is also probably taking into heavy consideration which type of pool structure they should decide on. There are many different pool designs and structures one can choose from, and people are often confused about which one to go for and which type of swimming pool will best meet their needs and desires within their specified budget.

Fiberglass swimming pools are one of the most popular types of pools, and thus one of the most heavily debated of all. Despite a fiberglass swimming pool being a very practical choice, and one that many pool enthusiasts recommend to others, it is not perfect and comes with certain flaws that the user should be made aware of before committing to a purchase.

Above all, the most noticeable difference between fiberglass swimming pools and other types of pools that one might view in a negative light is the fact that they typically cost a whole lot more than other models. This is due to the costs it takes to manufacture the fiberglass pool. It is important, however, to note that you are likely to make this money back during the long-term life of the pool. For instance, a fiberglass pool holds up better to the elements much longer than most other pools, allowing you to receive many more years of enjoyment and use of the pool without it cracking, becoming structurally damaged, or needing repairs. In addition to this positive facet of the structure, the amount of time and effort it takes to install a fiberglass swimming pool is usually quite a bit less than other types of pools. This factor can save you some money off of the initial bill, possibly making the difference in overall pool prices not as drastic.

Another negative issue which you might experience with a fiberglass swimming pool relates to something that becomes difficult to deal with during the winter season. It is common for people to completely drain their inground pool of water during the off-season in an effort to prevent the water in the pool from freezing and damaging the pool. While necessary in some climates to maintain the longevity of the fiberglass pool, it can be a huge hassle – and a huge expense when it is time to refill the pool – nonetheless.

The aforementioned negative aspects of a fiberglass pool are things you should definitely take into consideration before purchasing one. It goes without saying that nearly every type of pool will have certain pros and certain cons that will sway people in one direction or another when it comes to their final choice. It is important for you to weigh these options before making a final decision, in an effort to walk away with the best swimming pool to meet your specific needs, goals, and budget.

The cost of maintaining a swimming pool should not be underestimated, yet you cannot put a price on health and hygiene. Thankfully, you can ensure that you get the best conditions for your pool without having to burn a hole in your pocket by overpaying for the required pool chemicals used to clean a pool up. With a little thought and planning, you can purchase the best swimming pools chemicals available and can maintain a nice, clean pool for a long time.

As a general rule of thumb, you can go for cheap swimming pool chemicals, as long as you know they still work well, so that you get the maximum value for your money spent. For example, it is recommended that you consider purchasing chlorine tablets, which are one of the cheaper swimming pool chemicals for sale. They are highly popular and effective in cleaning your pool, making a swim an enjoyable experience without health consequences. You can generally find one inch tablets in 8 lb buckets, for a reasonable price of $30-40.

If you are willing to spend the money up front, you can save money in the long run if you buy swimming pool chemicals in bulk, since that will fetch you a price closer to that of its production costs. An example of that would be obtaining 100 lbs worth of chlorine tablets for less than three hundred dollars. You can consider sharing them with other pool owners you know, so that each and every party will benefit from buying in bulk, but you will not be sitting with so many pool chemicals at once. The bags or buckets of chlorine tablets should also have directions that show you how to use your pool chemicals as well so you get the maximum effectiveness from the product.

Another swimming pool chemical that you should consider using is concentrated algaecide. Take note that certain types of algaecide are only effective for treating your pool for black colored algae. For a slightly higher price, you can purchase concentrated algaecide that deals with green colored algae as well, which essentially saves you money because you won’t have to buy two different products. Concentrated algaecide comes in a liquid form and can be purchased for approximately ten dollars per quart.

It is definitely recommended that you treat your pool on a regular basis to avoid any problems compounding and turning into larger problems. The expenditure required to get your pool in a useable and healthy state exponentially increases when it is not properly cared for on a routine basis. So, although you may think that swimming pool chemicals cost a lot, and may consider skimping on your routine pool maintenance, you will find that in the end you will not be saving any money at all by doing so, and will be jeopardizing the health and enjoyment of anyone that uses your pool.

Of course, when it comes to answering the question of “”how much do swimming pool chemicals cost?”, the final answer will depend in part on the size of your pool, the type of pool you have (inground pool or above ground swimming pool), how often you use the pool, and the climate in which you live. But, as a general rule of thumb, there are ways to save money by finding the best swimming pool chemicals to do the job at the lowest prices, whether you buy them in bulk, find pool chemicals on sale, or simply maximize the effectiveness of the pool chemicals you use by carefully following instructions. Any way you figure out how to save money on swimming pool chemicals, it is important to keep in mind that you should not skimp on quality or effectiveness if it results in an unhealthy pool.

The good news is that if you are able to save enough on pool chemicals, you may have enough left over to buy a few exciting new pool toys for the kids!

Many people don’t consider all of the options available for tropical pool landscaping. There are a variety of plants that can survive outdoors with proper care, as well as outdoor decor and accessories with a tropical theme, that can find their place in most regions of the United States. These features can fit right in to pool landscaping design just about anywhere. When the word “tropical” comes to mind, you probably think of lush growth, waterfalls, colorful flowers and exotic animals. Well, with the exception of the animals, all of these assets can be incorporated into your pool landscape with relative ease, pretty much wherever you live. Large ponds, for example, can be accented with a water feature, such as a fountain, and several exotic water plants such as lilies, or you can add a palm tree or other tropical foliage alongside a meandering pathway.

Here are a few tropical pool landscaping ideas to consider:

Tropical Palms

The palm tree is one of the most enduring signs of tropical regions around today. A tropical vacation usually calls to mind images of sunbathing underneath an array of palm trees. Luckily, tropical palm trees are rather hardy, and can usually survive in temperatures as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit, though this will vary depending on the species. Palm trees also grow to rather large sizes, so make sure you have plenty of room for the plant’s maximum size prior to planting.

One of the more popular pool landscape ideas is to spread tropical palm trees along the edge of the pool, since they shed few leaves and can shade the surrounding tile or concrete and prevent it from becoming too hot. They also have extremely easy care instructions, though once again this varies from plant to plant, so be sure to research each species before you make any purchases to ensure you pick the ideal plant for your situation.

Plants and Pathways

Creating interesting pathways is another great way to enjoy a tropical pool landscape design. A walk through a tropical garden can be a great way to dry off between swims while enjoying the beauty provided by exotic plants on either side. Stone or rock pathways are one way of landscaping with rocks that can really add interest to the surrounding garden decor. Their natural and carefree look are attractive and fit in well with a tropical landscape design. Bamboo can help establish a walkway and give it a more tropical feel, if you grow it on opposite sides of a path. You can also add colorful flowers and exotic plants along the way, to increase the beauty and add to the tropical nature of your landscaping. In fact, there are many different types of landscape supplies that can really lend a tropical feel to your design.

Plant Combinations

Some tropical plants look better together than others, and finding the right plant combinations can be just what you need to really set off the look of your pool landscape. For example, a needle palm tree has thin leaf sections, and would be well accented by a broad leaved plant, such as a bird-of-paradise, which also has attractive blooms. Philodendron, ferns and hosta are all good low-growing plants ideal at filling gaps. Ground covers are also effective at adding tropical appeal and preventing open spaces.

Outdoor Accessories

Even if you live in a climate that is not conducive to growing tropical plants or trees, you can still add a tropical feel to your pool landscape design with a few well placed accessories. Nothing says “tropical” like a tiki hut where you can enjoy a cool drink on a hot day. Add a couple of tropical themed garden statues throughout your landscaping, or create an interesting waterfall or pond. A solar fountain is an easy and less expensive way to add a water feature and can make you feel like you are on vacation with its soothing sounds.

There are numerous ways to give your pool landscaping design a more tropical feel. Whether you live in a climate conducive to planting a palm tree or two, or you simply accessorize with interesting landscaping rocks, a solar fountain, a garden statue or two with a tropical motif, or even a festive tiki hut set alongside the pool to enjoy a refreshing drink after a swim, you can create a tropical paradise right in your own backyard.

When it comes to tiling pools, porcelain is out and glass tile is so in. Glass tile has become the leading choice for tiling pools in recent years. It’s glassy surface and color durability make it a top choice. Glass tile captures the light in a beautiful way that really complements and almost mirrors water movement. Glass also does not fade or discolor for long periods of time, which makes it extremely desirable in pool tiling since it is some what of a back breaking and expensive job to have to re-do down the road.

Pools are major landscape projects. Many homeowners feel that if they are going to spend the money to install a pool that will take up much of their backyards, then they want it to be a beautiful feature that adds to their landscape. Therefore, they often choose beautiful landscape supplies to surround their pool area. When it comes to tiling around the pool, glass tile is often chosen because it has a diverse, beautiful, and upscale look.

Glass tile installations have become incredibly popular in desert cities where backyard pools are abundant. For example, Arizona landscape designs feature a plethora of unique backyard “environments” with skillfully landscaped pool and garden areas. These desert landscape designs often utilize glass tile. There are many playful and dynamic designs that contractors can create using various bold colored glass tiles. There are also various decorative patterns and mosaics that they can create around pool areas using glass tiles.

Glass tile is also extremely popular to use in pool designs because it reflects and manipulates light, creating “sparkling” pools that seem to have a crystal clarity. There are even iridescent glass tiles that glow when light hits them. When used in pools, they seem to glow even brighter.

Glass tiles add immense beauty to pool designs, and therefore to overall desert landscape designs. They are supremely popular in areas with high temperatures and high pool usage (such as in desert-like climates). Glass tiled pools truly impress. Another increasingly popular option is to create gorgeous “pool-scapes”, and the stunning and diverse designs you can create with glass tile may be one of the reasons for this.

Just a note, when adding glass tile to your pool, or anywhere in your backyard desert landscape designs, be sure to hire an experienced professional. Glass tile has specific installation procedures, and if it is not installed correctly it can present costly long-term problems.

Glass tiled pools are one of the most stunning new trends in backyard landscape design. With their upscale look and interesting finishes, they can create a pool area that is as beautiful as it is inviting. And when that warm desert sun comes beating down and makes that glass sparkle, you will truly feel like you are in paradise.

There are benefits to be gained for anyone who is an avid gardener or who enjoys working in their backyard with the installation of a portable outdoor shower. While the idea of showering outdoors is not something that many people might find appealing, there are times when having access to somewhere that you can rinse off or cool down will be appreciated.

There are a number of different outdoor shower designs available that will give you a variety of showering experiences, from the bare bones shower spout connected to a garden hose and supported by a pole to a complete shower enclosure that will double as a changing room. The type of outdoor shower unit you choose will depend, of course, on your needs, your space allocation, and your budget. But, the point is that even if the outdoor shower isn’t used to clean off a person’s body, it can come in very handy for rinsing off tools and large implements that would be unwieldy under the garden tap.

Pet owners may find the addition of an outdoor shower stall a very useful feature for the garden because it makes it a lot easier to clean off muddy animals before they can get a chance to track the dirt indoors. An outdoor shower enclosure that is able to contain the dog is also helpful if you run into trouble trying to keep your pet still while attempting to rinse it off. The same holds true for small children that can’t stand still.

Where an outdoor shower can be particularly useful is for those backyards and gardens that also have a pool installed. Some people like to quickly rinse off the sweat and grime before diving into the water, and supplying a shower nearby is the ideal bathing prerequisite. A more elaborate outdoor shower enclosure would provide a place for guests to change into their bathing suits in private without having to find a spot inside the house. It will also provide a place to hang towels and personal items so they are out of the way and not at risk of getting wet. And by having an outdoor shower installed near the pool, it keeps the pool cleaner.

While most backyards will probably get by without having the need for an outdoor shower, the addition of one makes a lot of sense for many homeowners. By installing a shower outdoors, you can more easily keep the dirt outside where it belongs, instead of tracking it into the house. And most will agree that is a definite benefit!

Hot tub filters are an important part of keeping a hot tub clean and clear. There are many filters on the market from many different manufacturers and at different prices. The right hot tub filter for any particular hot tub or spa is necessary to maintain the system properly.

After you’ve had your filter for a while though, using a hot tub filter cleaner will no longer be enough – you’ll have to replace the filter entirely.

There are different ways in which a consumer can purchase a filter for their hot tub or spa. Finding a good quality, inexpensive hot tub filter to fit a system is not too difficult. There are websites available where a person can just type in their filter cartridge replacement number and get a list of replacement filters that will work for their particular system. Filter numbers are usually found on the end cap of the hot tub filter. Retailers online and at local retailers offer name brands like Sundance hot tub filters and Pleatco hot tub filters, but sometimes there are discount hot tub filters that will do the job well at a substantial savings. Before replacing the brand that the particular hot tub in question uses though, a person should consider whether or not they can get a good filter at a great price instead of paying full price for a lesser filter without considering other options.

Care should be taken in replacing a hot tub filter to ensure that the replacement is the right one. Keeping in mind that they come in many sizes and end cap styles, a person needs to consider the different filters carefully before making their selection if they do not know the exact filter that they seek. The diameter is usually close but can vary slightly, so the filter should be measured carefully. A hot tub filter needs to be chosen based on its diameter and its length, as well as by the top and the bottom configurations.

There are many brands of hot tub filters available and discount hot tub filters can be purchased at a bargain price if the person knows what type of filter they need. All that is needed is a little research and some knowledge to ensure that the filter you purchase will fit properly with your system. By using a hot tub filter cleaner, however, you will be able to prolong the time needed between having to replaced your hot tub filter, so it is worth the investment to keep your filter clean.

In almost every home, space is at a premium and there simply never seems to be a enough room. In that effort to find more living space, an outdoor rug can open up a world of opportunities, giving every family more room to relax, play, or entertain. Nothing makes a space, even an outdoor space, feel more luxurious and cozy than a rug. Whether the space is an enclosed porch, an open patio, a balcony, or even a play area, outdoor carpeting and rugs can make magic happen.

Today, every high quality outdoor rug is made to withstand the elements, including rain, sun, dirt, and snow. These rugs are treated to be mold resistant, bug resistant, and long lasting. Even in the harshest of environments, an outdoor rug can provide years of comfort, beauty and definition to any space, including outdoor dining areas, barbeque pits, and more.

One unique application for an outdoor rug that few parents think of is a child’s play area. These rugs can be placed right over grass or soil, providing a smooth, clean, pest resistant surface for babies, toddlers, and older children to play on. Much less expensive than rubber playground mulch or synthetic turf, an outdoor rug makes an excellent playground foundation. Add a playhouse, plastic slide, basketball net, or other small toys, and your little one is comfortably entertained for hours.

These outdoor rugs also work great on patios or around swimming pools, particularly those which receive a lot of sun. The carpet helps keep the ground cooler, preventing bare feet from being scorched on hot tile or pavement. Such flooring is easy to clean – an occasional spray with a hose and some household bleach keeps them mildew free. Even in the heat of the sun, outdoor carpeting and rugs can provide an attractive, comfortable floor covering for years. When used in covered areas, such as a lanai or sun porch, they can last even longer.

Outdoor rugs can be a very versatile addition to the exterior of your home. They can be used in places where you might typically think of using a rug, such as under a patio furniture set or outdoor dining furniture, but they can also be used in more unique places, such as on the ground as a clean and safe place for a baby or young child to play, around a pool to keep tootsies from getting too toasty when they come out of the pool, and in many other places that you might not traditionally think of putting a rug. No matter where you choose to put your outdoor rug or carpet, you can add interest or create increased functionality in the space.

Is the look of your home in a rut? Are you tired of the floral water sculpture in your backyard that’s gone dull with time? Many landscaping and interior home designs just don’t offer the originality, edge, or modern look that lots of homeowners out there are looking for these days.

If you are looking for designs and furniture accessories for both indoors and out that reflect your individuality, then a custom fire table or fire pit might be just your style. Fire tables are a hot trend in luxury hotels and upscale bars, and are now available to homeowners who want to give a chic, original look to their home. Many water fountains and water sculptures have an archaic, traditional look that is not always desirable, but adding fire tables and fire pits to your interior or exterior design can really add some warmth and spice to your home design.

Some of you may be wondering what a fire table is exactly. Well, you may have seen them at your favorite fashionable bar. They are unique, custom designed tables with glass top surfaces that shoot fire out in different shapes and designs. They are made of various materials, including cut stone and copper, and have several cool fire designs that you can choose from which makes the fire table truly reflect your taste. Peace signs, sun fire rays, and Yin and Yang symbols are just a few of the designs you can find.

Fire pits also give a unique, lounge type atmosphere and warm ambiance to backyard landscapes. They come in various shapes, colors, and sizes, and have a magnetic appeal, making great backyard hangout spots. Your friends and guests will gravitate toward your fire table or fire pit.

Another fire accessory that is great for the interior of your home is something known as a urban fire glass. Fireplaces have always been terrific places to cozy up and spend quality time by, and now with fire glass you can make them even more spellbinding. This glass accessory replaces traditional fire logs and creates a stunning colored fire blaze. It is composed of tempered glass made to withstand high-temperature heat for long periods of time. The chips come in many colors and sizes which make unique and intricate fire patterns.

So, if you are looking for some unique and modern ways to accessorize anything from your backyard and garden or pool area to your living room or family room space, think about the great look that fire tables, fire pits, fire glass and other fire-related accessories can add to your home. In today’s modern decorating schemes, fire is truly hot!

If you are having a hard time controlling your swimming pool cost, then there are a few things that you may want to try in order to bring those costs down. Obviously, if you haven’t yet purchased and installed a swimming pool, you are at a big advantage – you can learn from people’s past mistakes and implement these ideas now, before you even draw up the plans for your swimming pool’s design and implementation, so that you will know how to keep your costs to a minimum down the road.

First of all, you need to clearly identify what costs are associated with running a pool. Many people think that the only real costs you will have are the upfront purchase and installation costs. Nothing could be further from the truth. The real truth is that you will have maintenance, chemical, repair, and heating costs with just about every type of pool, period. There is no way around them – only ways to reduce those costs.

One of the easiest areas to reduce costs is with the chemicals. While it is definitely much harder to control the inground swimming pool cost of chemicals (for a variety of reasons that I won’t go into during this post), it is possible to reduce the costs of pool chemicals, no matter which type of pool you own (or plan on owning). So what is the easiest way to cut down on the chemical costs? By simply keeping your water PH balanced and by keeping the correct amounts of chlorine in the pool at all times. Nothing is more costly than having to shock your pool every weekend – that will kill your pocket book. And, it is much harder to manage your pool when the PH is off. You will end up using way too many chemicals and will not get nearly the results you are hoping for. Then, you may ultimately need to drain, or partially drain if you can’t fully drain, your pool, thus adding greatly to the already increasing costs.

The cost of chemicals is just one aspect of ongoing swimming pool costs that pool owners need to deal with and to try to control. There are a variety of other costs that add up as well and there are ways to reduce those costs, too. For example, if you stay on top of any small repairs in inground pools or even above ground swimming pools, you will avoid major deterioration that will then result in extensive, and expensive, repairs down the road. As for lowering heating costs, one of the best ways to do so is to use a solar pool cover which will keep the water in your pool warmed by the natural energy of the sun, thus eliminating or at least reducing your reliance on one of the most expensive aspects of owning a pool – the heating costs.

Owning a swimming pool is lots of fun and is something that many homeowners enjoy. But, after the initial purchase, there are a number of ongoing costs that still make pool ownership rather expensive. While you can’t do away with most of the ongoing swimming pool costs, there are certainly ways to reduce the cost of owning a swimming pool so you can spend more time enjoying the pool and less time worrying about how you are going to pay for it all.

What is one thing that every pool must have? Pool toys? A water slide? That would be nice, but the actual answer is a pool filter. Pool filters are absolutely crucial to have for the pool if you want your pool to have a long life. A good rule of thumb to keep in mind when setting up your pool filter is that the closer the pool filter is setup to the pool, the more effective it will typically be. In this article, three different types of pool filter companies and the many pool filters they offer are going to be discussed, so you can decide which type of pool filter is right for your pool.

Let’s start with a Hayward pool filter. This is a very dominant product in the pool industry. The company offers high quality products that are energy efficient, which is very necessary in today’s world. Hayward offers filters for above ground swimming pools and inground pools. Hayward pool filters come in three different types of filters, just like other pool filter companies – sand filters, cartridge filters and D.E filters. Each one of these filters has a few different versions that are designed for different ways to filter your pool.

Doughboy is another pool filter giant. They have been around for a long time and offer a great product. Doughboy Pools actually offers six different filter products, and each of them have their own specialty. The filters that they offer include aquaview, mediamaster, silica, sequel, generation II, and tri-filter. If a consumer is interested in Doughboy as their pool filter supplier, they should do research about all of the types of filters that they offer to see which would be best for their pool, or they can ask a dealer for advice.

The last pool filter company that is going to be discussed is Sta-Rite Industries. They carry plenty of different types of filters and they are pretty similar to Hayward filters with their offerings in filters. Sand, cartridge, and D.E filters are available by Sta-Rite as well. Sta-Rite’s top filter is the sand filter. They have plenty of different types of sand filters, with their three top sand filters being Cristal-Flo, the HRPB and the Systems 3. If a consumer is interested in going the Sta-Rite route, they should do research on the products just like the other two pool filter companies that were discussed to find the most appropriate and effective pool filter to fit their pool’s needs.

As you can see, there are a lot of different pool filter companies that offer a great deal of products. Three of the top companies were discussed in this article – Hayward, Doughboy and Sta-Rite – they are the “pool filter giants” in the industry and are highly recommended. Every consumer is advised to do research about the various pool filter products available before deciding which one to purchase in order to see which one will best suit their pool.

If you are in the market for a garden canopy, there are a few things you should consider before you start looking amongst the wide variety of options that are available. You will need to decide on criteria such as the size you need, what your plans are for the canopy (are you using it only occasionally for parties or will it be up all the time?), and what style of canopy will best suit your needs.

Outdoor garden canopies can run the gamut from a small, inexpensive pop up tent, to a larger, more permanent structure that is more like a gazebo than a tent. There are also garden canopy swings, but they are simply outdoor swings with a covered canopy and aren’t the same as a large garden canopy, although people sometimes get them confused because of their name.

Most garden canopies include four support poles on the corners with an overhead canopy that is either pointed, like a circus tent, or domed, and there are even multi-tiered coverings. Some models have sheer netting that is attached to the corners that can be dropped down to keep out insects or to provide a more intimate environment inside, or the netting can be tied back in the corners when not in use. Sizes, shapes and styles will vary considerably from model to model.

So, what should you consider when buying a garden canopy?

Size – There are various sizes of canopies and which one you choose will depend on how much space you need. The size will affect your budget as well. The most popular size is a 10 x 10 garden canopy, but you can find smaller ones, as well as larger ones. Most garden canopies are square, but some are rectangular, with the 10 x 12 garden canopy also being a very popular model. You can also purchase hexagonal garden canopies as well.

Style – Are you looking for a basic covering simply to provide shade or are you looking for a decorative structure to enhance the look of your backyard and be a major focal point? The style of garden canopy you choose will depend greatly on what your style needs are. You can find models that are very decorative or rather simple, with ornate touches on the side posts and along the top or very plain portable structures with aluminum legs and a basic solid colored canopy.

Uses – The type of garden canopy you buy will depend on whether you are looking for a structure to spend time in out in the garden, to place on your patio in order to house your outdoor dining furniture, to install alongside a pool area to create a cool oasis to get out of the sun, or simply to put up on occasion when you are having a party or need a bit of shade. While you can get a basic pop up garden canopy for under $100, structures that are designed to be more permanent in nature and to function like a gazebo can run hundreds of dollars or more.

Budget – That brings us to budget. There is a wide variety of garden canopy prices, depending on the factors listed above, so you need to set a budget up front before you head out to go shopping for a canopy. Your budget will help you narrow down the many choices available to a more manageable number, although you should still find plenty of options within any given price range.

Durability – Unless you want your canopy to be a single season purchase, be sure not to skimp on quality simply to get a better price. Garden canopies must withstand a lot of wear and tear from the elements of the weather, especially wind, so you are best off finding a high quality product that has a sturdy support structure and a quality fabric covering, with hardware that will not rust, corrode or break. You can find reviews of garden canopies online to find which models are worth buying and which you’re better off leaving at the store. Since the coverings will typically wear out before there is any damage to the support structure, you should make sure that you choose a model that offers a selection of garden canopy replacements so you won’t have a hard time down the road getting a replacement cover to extend the life of your canopy.

Buying a garden canopy can add functionality as well as beauty to your outdoor space. Whether you opt for a garden shade canopy to simply provide a respite from the sun or a garden gazebo canopy to be the focal point of your outdoor space, or even if you buy a garden party canopy just for a special occasion, you will find many more uses than you even realize for this portable structure.

You will find garden canopies at many large retailers, such as Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes and more. It is also worthwhile looking for an outdoor garden canopy online, since there is usually a large selection to choose from, as well as garden canopy prices that can typically beat brick and mortar stores. Amazon is a great place to look, and there are many outdoor furnishing companies that sell garden canopies as well.

If you are interested in buying a garden canopy, you can find a great selection here.

If you plan on installing an outdoor shower but find that your water pressure is low, one consideration may be to install a shower pump. Shower pumps work by increasing the pressure that is put out by your water system, and while most homeowners will choose to install a shower pump to increase the pressure of the water within their bathrooms, many others will also find that they are worthwhile for outdoor shower use as well.

There are many types of shower pumps available on the market, and which one you use will depend on your bathing or showering needs and what type of water supply you currently have. It will also depend on where you are using it. Sometimes referred to as a power shower pump, because the device supplies additional power to your shower and creates a constant stream of steady and powerful water flow, the type of shower pump you choose will make a difference in your water output and showering comfort.

Here are a few different types of shower pumps available:

Single impeller shower pump – Single impeller shower pumps are designed to be attached to just one water valve (which may work if you only are using cold water outside), or to be installed after the mixing valve that mixes hot and cold water before running through the pipes.

Double impeller shower pump – Double impeller shower pumps, on the other hand, can produce both hot and cold water since they can be attached to both water valve outputs and are more often used in whole house installations.

Negative head shower pump – Negative head shower pumps are used in locations where the water is not overhead and propelled by gravity. These types of pumps are intended to push the water along the pipes with more pressure, no matter where the water source is located.

Positive head shower pump – Positive head shower pumps work in locations where the source of the water is overhead, as in the case with older style plumbing arrangements. If you have an outdoor shower that receives its water supply from overhead, this style might work for you but is not as widely used as negative head pump models within a home.

Single shower pump – Many homeowners choose to install a shower booster pump that works to boost the water pressure throughout the whole house, but if the only problem you have with water pressure is in your outdoor shower, you may be better off using a single shower pump instead. This will just boost the water pressure in the one shower that you need and will not be as large or expensive as whole house power shower pumps.

Electric shower pump – Most models of shower pumps that are installed within the home are hooked up to an electrical source in order to operate. This is the standard mode of power for the pumps.

Battery powered shower pump – Another option that may work if you want to make an impromptu outdoor shower, either in your backyard or while you are on a camping trip, is to use battery operated shower pumps. These small devices work on battery power and are great for a shower on the go. You simply fill a bucket with water, immerse the shower pump in the water, and use an attached sprayer to take a shower. If you don’t want to go through the expense of installing an outdoor shower and only occasionally need to shower outdoors, this may be a very inexpensive and portable option, providing a pumped shower without the need for an outdoor shower or shower pump installation.

While most people will not choose to install a shower pump simply for outdoor use, there are models that are well-suited for that purpose. Whether your shower pump installation is a result of a weak stream of water in just one shower or many, however, adding one of the various models of power shower pumps available can provide a power boost to your shower and make you not only feel clean, but invigorated as well. For that reason alone, shower pumps are often worth the investment you make in them (although shower pump prices can vary considerably).

If you own an outdoor spa, then you have probably realized by now that there are a number of different types of spa accessories that can enhance the enjoyment of your spa, as well as the functionality of this backyard addition. Spa lights fall into both categories at the same time, since spa lighting is both a necessity if you use your spa after dark and an added bonus if you choose some of the enticing spa light options that can either make your spa into “party central” or that can add to the relaxation you enjoy while in your outdoor spa.

When it comes to spa lights, there are a few different options to choose from. LED spa lights are probably among the most popular, since they provide sharp, bright light in an energy efficient bulb and the bulbs last a long time. There are some incandescent spa lights available, but you will find many more choices in LED spa lighting than you will in the incandescent variety. Another option is fiber optic spa lights, which can provide a light show, complete with special effects, within your outdoor spa.

Spa lights are manufactured to withstand constant exposure to moisture as well as heat and will not corrode easily. They are also made to handle any type of mild or moderate impact from bodies bumping into them within the spa. Although a spa light, especially an LED spa light, is made to last for years, the bulbs will eventually burn out, but you can easily just purchase a new spa light bulb and change the bulb when the first one burns out. This is not so easily done in a built in light, however, but is a piece of cake in the portable light models.

In addition to built in spa lights that may come standard with the particular spa model that you purchase, there are many options of portable spa lights that can be secured to the interior of the spa and operate by battery-power or that can float in the water of the spa to create dazzling, festive, or relaxing light effects. You can find color-changing spa lights, flashing spa lights, solid color spa lights, and there are even some spa lights that come with soothing sounds as well to really add to a relaxed mood in your home spa. Some lights look like disco balls and roll around the water, while other lights will very gradually display soothing color changes while you sit and let the stress of the day just disappear with the rising steam.

You can buy spa lights at pool stores and other retail stores that sell pool or spa accessories. Many styles of pool lights can also be used in your outdoor spa, so you do not necessarily have to find a light that is specifically made for spa use. Another great place to find spa lights is online. If you do a search for spa lights online, you will find many companies that offer a wide variety of products, including general shopping sites like Amazon.com. Most are relatively inexpensive and are easy to ship, and online retailers usually seem to have the cheapest spa light prices, as compared to pool specialty stores.

Adding spa lights to your outdoor spa is a great way to turn this already enjoyable backyard accessory into a festive party or a relaxing oasis, and they can light up the night as well.

Pools, spas, hot tubs and outdoor kitchens provide a sense of personal luxury, and upgraded landscaping and gorgeous gardens are more popular than ever…

Imagine a dining room far from the kitchen heat, a reading nook with natural light, a place to restore positive energy, a room with bragging rights. All of this could be as close as your backyard. What could be more enticing than a group of people gathered around a fabulous outdoor patio grill with a Tuscan landscape tile mural as a backdrop or a porcelain tile rug for the patio floor nestled between two outdoor couches, that is patterned and fringed in an Oriental, Moroccan, or Southwestern theme?

Patios provide private sanctuaries for family and friends, and offer an interlude from frenetic activities of the main house. Patios are getting decked out in fun things which reflect the inside of the home and that bring the inside outside. For example, tile murals can fit any style or theme and can coordinate with furniture, fabrics, or beautiful scenery and are increasingly finding a place in the outdoors in areas like patios, outdoor kitchens, and inground pools.

From an extensive collection of eye-catching and dramatic Tuscan landscapes to old world master paintings to vintage labels reminiscent of old world style, there is a vast array of beautiful and fabulous images that can be had, or individuals can submit their own images to be transferred onto tiles. The possibilities are endless.

Because the tiles are kiln fired at 1800 degrees F. they are not affected by the damaging affects of UV and are able to withstand extreme weather conditions. Versatility is the keyword for imaged porcelain kiln fired tiles. They are equally at home in an ocean house, veranda, porch, pool, floor, wall, outdoor fireplace, patio, or just about anywhere. They are also ideal for all types of exterior commercial applications, such as restaurants, hospitals, and public parks.

Kiln fired tiles for outdoor walls, pools, floors, and outdoor fireplaces are being proposed in every aspect of building and design imaginable! With the unveiling of this product, calls to custom tile designers have been coming in for the most creative design applications of the century, and people are increasingly ordering tile murals for their outdoor living environment

Companies like AliciaTappDesigns.com offer beautiful outdoor porcelain tiles and custom tile murals, providing the perfect finishing touch to complement any outdoor decor. They can provide tile installations that include any image and can create tile murals in any size. The murals they create are truly a work of art.

Thinking about a pool makes some people cringe at the thought of shivering in cold water, and this experience makes the pool become just an eye pleasing thing in your backyard, but not a useful one. But, pool heaters are available to provide comfort to human life and to let people enjoy their pools.

Several options are available to heat up pools, and the selection of a pool heater depends on many factors, such as the size of the pool, cost of the heater, maintenance costs and systems, availability of fuel, location and usage, and environmental issues.

The location of the pool is one factor to consider. Heat input varies according to the location of pool and whether the pool is located on the ground level (inground pools) or above it (above ground swimming pools). You also need to know how much sunlight the pool gets and how much time during the year the pool will be used or what times of day it will be occupied.
Pool heaters are available in various models and are made to meet certain requirements depending on the power sources available in any particular area. Electrical heaters, propane gas heaters, and solar heaters can be used for pool heating. Solar heaters are considered as the best method, since they utilize natural, free and non-polluting energy. However, personal preference and availability of resources in any particular area will also play a role in selecting the type of pool heater used.

Use of propane heaters to heat up the pool can be a good choice if the pool is not used for a long period of time or is not used very frequently. These propane heaters are good if the temperature of the pool is required to increase quickly. But this will cost you more if used for long periods of time, although the price of gas is cheaper than some other fuels.

Another option is an electric pool heater. The main advantage of this type of heater is the availability of electricity in the required location. But you need to keep the heater switched on in order to maintain the warmth of the pool, so costs can rise rapidly due to constant electricity charges.

Solar power heaters are considered a cost effective option to heat up a pool. This effective pool heating system works very well and can comfortably be used to keep the warmth of the pool steady for an extended length of time. However, they only work well in the daytime. For nighttime pool use, you can use a solar heater along with another type of heater.

The function of a solar heater is simple. A slender pipe circulates the water of pool. This pipe is fixed to receive heat from the reflected rays of the sun which are collected by solar panels. A reflector is used to receive the sun rays in a converging beam. The rays of the sun are commuted to heat the pipe which circulates the water. Usually a solar pool heater costs around $2000. But a homeowner can usually install it themselves, saving installation costs.

To cut down the cost of heating your pool, it is generally recommended that you use two types of heaters to heat up the pool water. Only using electricity or gas may increase your expenses. But, combining these types of pool heaters with a solar pool heater may be the most cost effective option. It is ideal to select a pool heater or combination of pool heaters according to your available source of energy, location and size of your swimming pool, and how often you use the pool.
