The Hydro Lab is a table-top unit with four growing trays where you can grow seeds of any variety you choose. Seeds are protected by a clear plastic dome while they sprout. The Hydro Farm system consists of a base which holds four plant containers. You can grow one type of plant in each module or mix them around however you please. Seeds are placed within the included pebble-like bedding. The bedding is used for plant support and is what the roots will grow through to get to the nutrient water. No soil is required because the water contains all of the nutrients that the plants need. A water basin underneath the bedding only needs occasional refilling for healthy plant growth.
Safe, yet effective, nutrient chemical packets are provided to add to the water. Additional nutrients can be obtained from your local gardener’s supply, but chances are you’ll want to upgrade to a larger unit after you see the effectiveness of hydroponics greenhouse gardening. A clear cover keeps moisture within the system in a similar fashion to how a greenhouse’s walls hold in moisture. The system can also be used outdoors if kept in indirect sunlight.
