Outdoor Chandeliers – Two Types to Consider

Contributed By: BAG Editors

Outdoor chandeliers can extend the time homeowners can enjoy the exterior of their homes, due to the illumination the outdoor chandelier offers.  Indeed, even when the sun goes down, if the exterior of homes are well lit, patios and yards can be enjoyed after dusk.

One option for lighting the exterior of homes is outdoor chandeliers when the location is covered, such as a covered patio, gazebo, or porch.   Many choices of outdoor chandeliers are available, including differences in size, design, and finishes, but one particular type to consider is the candle outdoor chandelier, since the ambiance candle light offers can be peaceful, festive, or romantic, and can perhaps help create an atmosphere the homeowner wishes to enjoy, either alone or with friends.

By comparison, outdoor chandeliers that use light bulbs to simulate real candle light tend to pose less of a fire hazard when compared to using actual candles.  However, homeowners must make sure that when they use any type of outdoor lighting, the lighting fixtures have been rated for outdoor use to ensure safety, since the fixtures will be exposed to the natural elements, such as mist, fog, sun, etc.  Additionally,  given that Underwriters Laboratories (UL) tests lighting products, among other products  for safety, consumers may wish to purchase outdoor chandeliers that have been tested and approved by Underwriters Laboratories for outdoor use.

Many choices are available when it comes to choosing outdoor chandeliers.  Candle outdoor chandelier light and simulated candle chandelier light are just two of the many options available, although they create a rather unique ambiance that other types of outdoor chandeliers, and indeed other types of outside lighting, cannot recreate.
